Blimey and i thought the UK was backward when it came to BB access but your isp's take the piss
It's because currently one ISP (Telstra) owns Australia's one and only copper network. So currently they control the pricing on ISP's who accesses the network (though there is government regulation). Now the thing is a large amount of that is now being planned to move to fibre optic. Now the Australian government see that it would be silly to build more than one network... there is no need. Telstra still want to have their monopoly and build the new fibre network, but they want 100% exclusive access to it. They wont even rent it out. They still refuse to show the public what they will charge them to gain access to this new proposed network... no doubt it would be a freaking fortune. They charge everyone a minimum $20 a month access to the current copper network. Now the consumer watch dog sees this as an unfair and anti competitive move so it's stopped them. While competing ISP's have all put in money together to build a new network and next week should reveal their plans on how much they will charge people to access the network.

Lets hope in the next month or so we see some progress... progress has been halted for over 12 months on this ****. Telstra is pretty much holding the country at ransom.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

You can download stuff at 40MB/s, that's unfair.

My 1Mbit ADSL

Yep, it does come in handy [thumbup]

I knew they raised the cap on my Time Warner line! Used to be only 3mb down, and 256kb up! And real world usage is a big difference, used to get 600KB/s max downloading torrents, and now I hit 840KB/s.
