Default so i was wondering...
well actually me and my girlfriend were wondering how long does the whole lovey dovey stage last? or at least how long did it last for you after you first started to date someone? cause if anything it just gets more and more everyday.

and yall know what im talking about, like the whole 'we have to kiss every 30 seconds' or the 'we have to hold hands all the time' type of stuff.

so what is your experience with this part of a relationship?

It's been over a year for my fiance and I. Granted we aren't like that everyday, but most days we are.

Been with my current gf for 3 years on Thursday ([thumbup] ) and I guess it lasted about a year or so. Its not a bad thing when it slows down, if anything it was good! Pisses your friends off with the lovey stuff She complains sometimes, but you can't expect it to be like that forever. As long as it doesn't go away completely! There still has to be some lovein'

so it seems the general consensus is a year. that is real interesting actually. i wonder if it will be any different with us, because we have never been in a relationship were the other person actually feels the same to them. kinda hard to explain in third person but thats the best i gots.

plus for about 4 months we talked everyday over myspace, constantly messaging each other over and over. today is actually our 1 month but it seems like it has been so much longer because we did talk every day for those months.

anyways, i was just wondering what you guys experienced with this sorta thing. oh and in may '08 she is going off to grad school, which would be a year and a month at that point... so we will see i suppose.

Yeah. I say about a year for most people. I'm not sure if we were much like that. (the wife and I) we lived together about a week after umm.. meeting. It tends to go away quicker if you are around each other 24/7 (yes i met her at McDonalds and we worked together alot)

I have this friend of mine. He has a younger GF (im guessing hes 26 shes... 19-20ish?) Man... they can get annoying

Until the day you have your first child.

Then it's back to the kleenex and thinking like a 15 yr old again.

While we have cooled off somewhat over 10 years time, my partner and I are extremely affectionate. We touch alot. If we are watching TV we are usually touching in some way.

We hold hands if we are out walking. We kiss all the time and he still tells me he loves me probably 10 times a day.

We sleep snuggled close, leaving most of our king sized bed empty.

I saw a show on learning chanel or discovery or somesuch, and they said that the initial 3 months of a relationship is the point where your brain is creating the neuro-connections that is love... and that for most people the butterflies or physical sensation/giddieness usually lasts 3 months also.

see that pretty much describes our physical relationship right now. of course here is much more then just that, but when we are doing something that is a lounge type activity we are usually also touching in some way. when we sleep we are holding each other or when in the car we are usually holding hands. when walking its the hands again. i dunno what it is about this girl but i can not get enough of her.

and i hope it lasts just as long as yourself, that would be pretty cool.

that makes sense. i wonder how they came up with the 3 months and if its only 3 months for everyone. thats really interesting though, i might have to try to hunt this episode down.

15 years, so far

Although having said that, right from the start we've always toned down the touchy-feely stuff when in company so as to not make the people around us feel uncomfortable.

Anyone remember that episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where they are at Roberts house and they just got married and Amy tries to give Marie and Debra advice and stuff? Its hilarious.

My girlfriend is still very lovey duvey with me, when we're not having sex (which was covered in another topic lol) she always likes to hug me and touch me ...

So, I suppose it lasts as long as u want it to last.

Women are always more lovey duvey than men, unless the man is gay.
