Default Yankee or Dixie? Take the test...
lol I am 74% Dixie, it says I am pretty southern. Which is true because I am from Mississippi.

Take the Test:

45% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

lol, most of mine were Midwest/Great Lakes (Seeing as how most of my family is from North Dakota/Michigan) [rofl] But some of them showed that I am indeed from Arizona. (West) [rofl]

So what do you call a water fountain and a carbonated drink? I call a carbonated drink a coke always, its a southern thing when refering to a soft drink.

TBH I don't know what yankee is. I thought it was a term for all US people

(In california my entire life btw)

I don't get why people call Soda "Coke". Whenever I hear that it makes me want to smack them. I always heard it referred to "Coke" in alabama- I was glad to get out of there.

I've never heard of Bubbler, but I use both Water fountain and Drinking fountain.

So what do you call a water fountain and a carbonated drink? I call a carbonated drink a coke always, its a southern thing when refering to a soft drink.
BAH! It's WRONG. It's not a southern thing, it's just incorrect! It's like saying I'm going to go around calling tea lipton now too.

So it is wrong, I know that. But when you grow up hearing people say it all your life then you don't know any different really until you are older, and by then its habbit.

Lol, got you Brits confused? In many other countries Yankee is a term for anyone American. However it is different here in the US, A Yankee is a person usually from the northern parts of the US that usually talks more proper and has a "northern accent." A Southerner aka as Dixie is usually a person living in the southern US and has a "southern accent." We also tend to use words that don't exist, like "fixin to do something" instead of saying "about to do something." Contrary to popular belief we are not illiterate, stupid, backwards, and imbred people like some poeple from the West Coast and the Northern US like to think, well at least most of us aren't.

Well when I hear things like "First integrated prom" it's hard not to think that.

To be honest that is quite shocking to me as well. I have never heard of a segregated prom in my life.

I can't believe there are still places like that. I grew up as "Deep South" as it gets, I live about 30 minutes or so from New Orleans. Maybe it's because my dad is from Pennsylvania and mom is from Tennessee but I still can't believe there are towns still like that.

BTW, I scored 79% Dixie.[shocked]

Of course, living close to a major city might have urbanized me quite a bit. My dad also refused to let me speak slang around him as well.

Don't be ashamed to be a country feller 1ghz man, I actually enjoy it. Where else could I have a 2 acre yard, fish almost anywhere i please and hunt on my own land. I know a lot of you "Yankees" and other poeple from the city are probably laughing and think why anyone would want to live like that, but its the way I like it.

oh, my father lives in Alabama and actually owns 4 acres of land there with a Mule.

I want to go back there just to see it [rofl]

I guess one good thing about the south is it's cheap. My dad bought a house for what I paid for my car.
(still not enough for me to live there)

Nope, he bought it for $100. It's an older mule though.
