KEF's are great speakers, well their Reference series they have are top as I know those only.

Their multimedia speakers you are aiming to get, I find 999,- USD a bit too much for it.

Than I suggest to look at Klipsch Promedia 5.1 for , i think, about half of the KEF price range.

Yamaha makes awesome amplifiers, have a great natural and rich sound in them and are definately worth checking out, specially if you have Onkyo in mind.

PS, Polk speakers are good car speakers, home usage they never been polulair. I think that says quite a bit.
dude who really care what has been popular? we all have ears to make an opinion. And Yamaha recievers didnt impress me one bit.

me too, my father had a Yamaha reciever, then he swtiched to Onkyo and couldnt be happier, heck the onkyo cost less too

i just dont want tower speakers taking up lots of space, which is 1 of the big reasons i liked that KEF package, i was just curious how they were as a brand overall

Also Circuit City offers an extended warranty for 10 years for $80, seems cheap for 10years?

I wouldn't get the warranty because even if they would fix or replace it ... it would too much a hassle to deal with. Im sure they would sound good and the best thing is you can return them if you arn't 100% satisfied.

Default KEF a decent speaker brand?
So instead of the Logitech Z-5500's im gonna do a dedicated set of speakers/reciever. What do you think of this KEF speaker package

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Custo...Review.do#tabs

and this Onkyo reciever

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Onkyo...oductDetail.do

i dont want to spend more then $1500 for reciever + speakers so those 2 put me right there. Would that be a decent setup you think?

I just bought a Onkyo 504 and a pair of Polk Monitor 50's from CC a week ago. They sound great on my 360 and PC. Onkyo is a really nice receiver for the money, but the KEF speakers will prob suck. I would suggest if money is an issue start out by going with 2 quality fronts and if you need some bass buy a seprate sub. Your sound will be so much better. Then build your system from there. Satitlite speakers have no mid range at all

Yep, Kef are decent, especially for the price.

I did a lot of research when I bought my setup a few years back, and finally settled on two pairs of Kef Cresta speakers.

AVForums is a great place to find out about speakers, etc. It might be worth having a little search through there and seeing what people there have to say about the 2005.2
