tl;dr version: Video card died, warranty is void.

Now I need a replacement asap, but being an empty pocketed grocery clerk, I'm expanding into areas of ways to get a descent pci-e video card for free or dirt cheap.

The PC itself was new, buying the 7900GT for $200 was a last minute thing from the guy..

Sometimes "review-sites" get some "free" hardware, maybe you should write some manufacturers an e-mail, saying you're the webmaster of a review-site and you would like to do a review of the card.. :-P

Just pick up a cheap GF7600GS until you can afford something decent?
