A group of kids just decided to go mental on a row of cars in my street. My poor R reg saxo was the last victim. About 6 cars are now missing passenger side wind mirrors and sporting some rather depressing dents. Luckily, I heard them and managed to stop them before my car took a battering. The wingmirror took the brunt of the attack, but thankfully the glass didn't break and it went straight back on (with a slight crunching noise).

The other cars not so lucky, looks like the owners are going to need to fork out for some new mirrors, including all the plastic surround.

Just a bunch of young twats, out on the lash. Mind you, the police were quite helpful, I didn't expect them to turn up so fast (2hrs) which on a saturday night in a city (Cardiff) wouldn't have thought would be their top priority.

Either way, I am now in love with a police bird, didn't have the balls to ask for her number. either way her handcuffs looked fun.

grrrrr little shits, makes my blood boil. I always ensure I leave nothing in my car and sometimes even leave the glovebox open to show there's nothing in it (I have a GPS stand on my window), this is just mindless vandilism. [cursing]

Pontcanna, just opposite the fields. Trouble is the road is pretty busy, and with the field they can just run off into the dark.

My flat mates car has suffered similar in the past, it's normally a really nice place, but recently I've noticed a few cars have been broken into

DO NOT leave it stuck on the window becuase of those opertunist thieves around if they see that in there they may think hmmm i wonder if the rest of it is and bust your window.

I can tell you that it happens becuase my ole mans car was done over because of this.

Luckily, all that needed to stop these idiots was me shouting at them and running at them, all 6/7 of them where over in the field as quick as they saw me. I'm not exactly match fit these days, but I'm happy I got them to stop. especially as now it looks like mine was the last car to be attacked.

TBH, I'm after the quiet life, so I called the police - it's a good job as well as before they turned up I wasn't aware of just how bad the damage was to the other cars, until myself and the two police officers walked the road and had a proper look with their torches we could see the dents and the wing mirrors. I'm no car buff, but I'd guess the damage with the dents would be in the £1,000s. One car looked like it had been in an accident, really given it a good kicking.

In a strange sort of way, I can understand kids breaking into cars for things like mobiles, cds etc... but this was just mindless, and they'll get away scot free. Lets face it, all chavs look the same.

I'd kinda tempted to dig out my old 6 shooter pellet gun, it's a pistol and powered by C02 but I know they'll just pull out an AK, i'm just that lucky

You were quite brave to run towards them, as most chavs these days seem to be armed with knives etc, and think nothing of stabbing people for fun!

Quite a few people in the news in the last year, been in same situation as you and been stabbed to death, so keep a nice big piece of wood, near the front door next time, might save your life.

I'm fairly lucky as I live on a really quiet estate, but I do have a red oak bokken that I keep on hooks above the front door, just incase, but in 7 years, no ones tried their luck yet, and god help them if they do.

I think you misread his first post, the 2 hours referred to the time it took for the police to actually turn up to the incident, the OP never stated the idiots were caught in 2 hours.

Lucky the Poilce turned up at all, most of the time they can't be bothered, too much paper work, I guess.

As far as what was stated, they were not caught.

Yeah, they are not caught, but like snoopy says I was amazed they even turned up as quick as they did. When I talked to them on the phone I told them all I knew at the time, which was that some kids have attacked my car and are currently stood about 200m away in the field shouting obscenities at passes by, myself included. I tried taking photos but it came out too dark. I wish I had taken my decent camera and not just my camera phone!

They asked if there was any damage, I told them my wing mirror was hanging off, but I had managed to fix it. At this stage I didn't know the other cars had been attacked.

So basically, from the point of view of the cops - I stopped the crime, but there could be more trouble ahead but damage was minimal (or so I thought), so in terms of urgency it's nothing, but could potentially kick off again should they come back.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't want my car incident stopping someone else getting treatment. After all, it's only a car. I was low on the priority list.

They then turned up 2 hours after me phoning to ask me questions and then we established the exact damage to all the cars.

Next time the chavs turn up, before they make it down the row to your car, just hop in and mow em all down, drag em to your backyard, get some paving slabs delivered next day and instant backyard patio aka "brookside", sorted!

Make sure you rifle their pockets first, before you plant em, might scrape together enough for a new wing mirror. [rofl]
