So anyways, I'm a network admin for Owens Illinois in Ohio. Sadly enough, I am only 20 and I my family is a bit broken. My mom and Dad divorced when I was 2 and ever since then my dad has struggled with his business financialy since.

anyways, I haven't had a chance to see him now in about 3 months and this includes the holidays. His job has him so damn busy that we've had very little chance to talk lately.

Well finally a week ago my dad had gotten a hold of me and we had thought it best to get some chinese food [yes]

So anyways he was running late and I had to be at work by 8pm and I had been running late so I had called the guy ahead of me and had told him hey if you need to you can head out early because I'd be running a little late and I'd be in no later then 15min after the start of my shift.

Low and behold an issue occurs and I had just gotten into the office. During the course of being out for 15min, a phone call had arrived from our unix based team worker who had said that the DBA had to be restructured and blah blah blah. Not a big deal but never the less an issue... so anyways.

I receive a phone call from the guy and he had said I had tried calling and no one answered. I said yes, the guy before me left at 8 and I had ran alittle late because it was my fathers birthday and i ahd dinner with him. Mind you it was about 8:23pm.

I come in over the weekend and was informed bya friend here that i looked like an ass for mentioning it. He had said no matter what they ask say you stepped out for a min to use the bathroom, or grab a pop. Something.

So anyways the head of computer operations writes me an email and pretty much in blunt way chews my ass out. No big deal because he does have the right to say what was said but regardless of the matter...

family will always come first.... my dads life is limited here... the amount of jobs i could work are not...

thanks to gossiping *******s. thankfully nothing really came of it but a short ass chewing but regardless, what a *******. Sad that some people have nothing better to do then gossip about bullshit.

All battlestations should be manned at all times..

May have been better to have asked your co-worker to stay 15 minutes longer.. and make that time right again by coming 15 minutes earlier some day and that he takes off early..

Family is important yes, but your responsibility lays also at your work, it's where you make your income and your boss relies on you as well, even though it seems only 15 minutes..

Mmm I just don't see it. I'd much rather lose my job and know I have my father then to go to work and hear he died. This shits replaceable but my father is not.

Any job can pay the bills man, I'm not that pressed. And like I said, I'm 20, not 35. I don't have a mortage waving over my head... haha just a car payment and school loan.

WTF? gossiping is just what happens when there are large groups of people with sod all else to talk about than other people...
