The military isn't even willing to put decent armor plating on its vehicles, much less purchase a $2,000 suit for everyone of its soldiers. It's sad but true.

This must have been bullet proof glass or else he would have been dead.

Well you're talking to the person making boron carbide and silicon carbide test plates for Natick. They gave us a $450,00 contract for 1.5 years for that specific project. I have to make 660 plates of both materials and do all the mechanical testing for them. [help]

no mention about the breathability or aircoditioning of the whole suit then.

good luck with that in high temps out in iraq and afganistan

and why the fook would you want to point out snipers with your head ?
most likely the force of the bullet smashing into your helmet is going to either break your neck or give you some serious injury anyways... not like it saved you.

Their language is appalling. Shows how they don't care that many think they're uncivilized barbarians.[thumbdown]

If I were in that situation, having been targeted and shot at, I would've been 'fck that was close [surrender]' and I would've gotten away from the window.

With them it feels like ' #$%3 omgz j00 b33n pwned by the glass! haha! !@#@!!!'

Seeing as the U.S. military pays out about $100,000 in life insurance for every fallen soldier, I don't think they'd have much trouble finding $2,000 for many of them.

But the practicallity of this suit isn't there for fulltime use.

It would be nice for forced entry type situations, though.

I think if you got some brains you could easily reduce the soldiers load.
