Default Car Audio Gurus!!
Right I'm planning on purchasing an audio upgrade for my car.

Now the thing is I have no idea when it comes to car audio so don't want to get scammed.

Currently the headunit I'm running is the Pioneer DEH6800MP

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...?product=21482

I currently have these speakers sitting at home waiting to be installed (which I got at a bargain price of £40 brand new)

Pioneer 176C
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pion...6c-p-3265.html

Now I'm wondering what sub/amp package to get.

I seen this sub/amp/box package for £175 but I'm not sure whether the amp would be sufficient to power the sub and the components and whether the Sub is over kill.

http://www.alphacaraudio.co.uk/index...oducts_id=2688

The shop is local to me in Manchester so I could always negotiate something, but I'm just looking for something with a bit of pump than normal speakers but keep it at a budget.

Any help would be great.

that amp is enough to power the sub, but only the sub. i have a similar combo myself.

i also have pioneer door speakers, but not a component set. i just use the head unit to amp them though. they are 60w speakers anyway, so 50w from the headunit should be fine.

Pick ALPINE.

IMO, bang for the buck, its the best there is, oh and dont skimp on sub/amp packages. Pick the amp you want and the sub you want, make sure they are both suited to each other and get a GOOD wiring kit.

Everyone says stuff like that... PICK PIONEER PICK SO AND SO...

And it turns it they say it just because they have them themselves

But when you've had most manufacturers and you realise the best is Alpine then why not recommend it?

I've had countless boot installs in cars and different head units galore, infact I currently have a Sony headunit cos it went with my interior better than the Alpine I used to have.

For sound quality Alpine (imo) has been better than my Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony & JVC etc

The amps Im using are Alpine V12 and I've had a few varieties of them too, inc Audiobahn etc and Alpine comes out best with those too.

So dont start on about the "oh yea everyone says that cos they run them" cos I've had more audio setups than you've had computer games.

that 12" pioneer combo should pump good, dont listen to these guys even a low end sub from a name brand is good, I got an cheap mtx package 2 10" box and amp and the amp puts out 275 watts rms at 2 ohms, and for normal music its not deafining, if I put my back seat down you can hear my car from like 300 feet away with all the windows up, so yeah it should be a good match, btw im running a pioneer deh-6600 deck

depends what you are looking for
if it is big bass get a mono block amp
get a good one , you can run it on any sub and always get a better sub later - they are not that expensive and run the speakers of the radio for now and later get a seperate amp for the speakers

Nakamichi is good, I agree though I do prefer Alpine over them.

Clarion & Blaupunkt, imo, arent in the same league.

Personally I dont rate HK as high as I do with their home audio systems. Good but theres better car audio out there. My mates Land Rover had a HK system and it was poor lol. But thats cos it was a manufacturer's cut down HK version.

well i personally feel its the type of music you play in your car.

if your into ur umch umch music your not really gonna be driving a 30 grand plus "prestigue" car these systems reside in anyhow.

its like playing dum and bass through a linn natural sound system it sounds crap but the stereo was hand made and costs in excess of 10,000 quid

anyway i feel that the modern car stereo's are aimed more at attaining the brown note rather than sound quality but i also dont claim to be an expert

and theres too many features and functions. who needs or even uses all of these ?

What help is it that you need? There's nothing wrong with the components you selected, if that's what you like and it's all within your budget. Is there something more specific you'd like to know?

Don't listen to the "buy this instead" people, nothing wrong with your choices. Most companies, including both Pioneer and Alpine, make a broad range of equipment to suit various budgets, such that they both sell both crap alongside their hi-quality items.

You could try www.crutchfield.com. descent prices and they carry just about everything you would need. They have reviews with their products and their learning center isn't to bad.
