There is a new version of superman 2 out now though. The Richard Donner Cut. I was told it's almost like a new film. So maybe that will tie in better with superman returns.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superma...ard_Donner_Cut some more reading on it. |

In Richard Donner's cut, it explains more that the container Superman goes in irradiates him with the Krypton Sun's rays; which removed his powers (as he only gets power from the earth's type of sun). This left him as a Kryptonian but without the super powers. Anyone wanting to know how on earth he got his powers back, which was left out in the originally released superman 2 - the powers were from his father; which is where the "The son becomes the father, and the father becomes the son" phrase comes from, used a few times in Superman Returns. Oh and his boy having Asthma etc, I think thats pretty obvious. He is half Kryptonian and half human - his powers are kryptonian but his asthma etc are from his human traits. |

It does tie in better with Superman returns. It explains more on the "transformation" and exactly how he got his powers back; although Superman 3 and 4 were not made with Richard Donner's cut in mind, so you have to just take the answers out of Donner's cut, then carry on with the original released story line. |

Superman in itself is just a character from the destroyed planet krypton, sent to earth and has super powers from our sun. Thats the only building blocks that is required for a superman story. Technicals like "cant have children with humans" (which I havent seen myself tbh) doesnt need to be included; as it wasnt in The New Adventures of Superman, where Lois and Clark did have a baby at the end.

wow, ok this explains a great deal of things, thanks langy...guess ill have to watch it myself to get the rest, but one questions still remains...every single article and show ive seen/read on superman suggests that kryptonians cant have kids with humans....maybe I'm just looking too much into it... |

Yea, with alot of all the "super hero" people like superman, fantastic 4, x-men, and so on have so many different story arcs that people get easily confused with so many different conflicting story arcs. I'm only more interested in x-men and there are so many different story arcs with things being 1 way in one arc and another in a 2nd arc.

Now, about the kid's asthma etc...beats me. It's probably a little contrivance on the filmakers part to make it more of an "ohmygod" moment when they reveal the kid as his son. |

I don't like that whole kid with Lois bit at all either, but supposedly this movie is set after Superman II, where Superman transformed himself into a human and had sex with Lois, thoroughly impregnating her. Then he turned himself back to Superman to combat General Zod and all that. |
