Two questions, does 3dmark actually utilise quad core?,and how can some people be so quick to jump on the "8800's are bottlenecked with quad core systems" bandwagon when there's not really any to beleive it to be true yet.

I'm sure the score went up with clockspeed, but I'm pretty sure nothing was tested that makes anything more than superficial use of a quad core cpu yet and that this conclusion is extremely premature.
i agree... try some games like fear at 2560x1600 with some AA on the 8800GTX SLI and ill be damned if you dont get a fps boost from overclocking the cards even on a a64 venice

This is amusing... asking for our opinions AFTER you've ordered the system? Oh well, better than not asking at all I suppose. I hope your order hasn't been dispatched yet, so you have time to change it.

I'd buy Intel Core2Duo anyday over an AMD FX setup. Even if it be only for faster Windows experience

True 3Dmark isn't multi threaded except on the CPU tests, BUT the drivers are and the load goes up when you use SLI. The core 2 quad was just what they used to get a higher CPU score, and thus a higher overall score. The Guru3d benchmarks clearly show an advantage to a fast CPU.

This review clearly states these cards are CPU bottlenecked, even in single card situations.

CPU scaling with G80.

I cant stop my order but may use the amd stuff on my second machine.
I had thought I would never go back to intel but now I am considering it.
I havent ran intel forever so I would need help to decide the right motherboard.

What motherboard do you all suggest?????

the P5B's are good, or you might get the new nforce 680i , it is supposed to get better over time when drivers mature and it has many overclockin options

I've heard rumours that you need two full 16x pci-e slots for SLI 8800's so its probably safer to go with the i680. Anything less and it chokes, also if you plan to over clock make sure your PSU is top notch, when overloaded PSU blow they sometimes take hardware with them.

I'd forgottgen you'd already picked a PC P&C, sorry.

Yeah,so again saying that "omfg!!! 8800's are bottlenecked on quad-core" is a bit of a stretch, because there's a clear and obvious difference between that statement and reality.

To be fair Aramchek I never once mentioned Quadcore, I only really said that FX60/62 wasn't enough. On those performance charts it would still have come fourth place as its well known that the 6600 is faster.
