Default What's the longest you have been sick for?
I hardly ever get sick. But, I have been sick for the past 2 and a half months. It's nothing major, really more irritating than anything else.

But, what's the longest you have been sick? How did you cope? I already used up my sick days. But, I know some people don't even get them.

3 months, anti-biotic misstreatment lead to a "black fungal" ear infection that they couldn't heal in 3 months at the university hospital of Oslo (they did manage to puncture my eard drum though. A random doctor I went to after being fed up of them poured canestene into my ear and it was fixed within a day...

3 1/2 months,..
I had a very bad case of Meningitis.
I spent the whole time in the hospital with horrible pain paired with the fact that i wasnīt allowed to watch TV, read or do anything that would stress my brain.
It kinda was the worse time of my life

edit: the worst part was that i got a spinal puncture (a ca 15cm needle in the spine to tap spinal fluid) every 3-4 days
After that your not allowed to move for 12-24 hours
Itīs a horrible feeling.

Funny you should mention this, im sick again, probably a virus or something going around. About a month ago I was also sick, for two weeks which I actually found to be quite unbearable. Not because of being sick, just being stuck in bed all the time. I was happy to go back to work!

2 weeks is the max for me from what I can recall.

about 9 months with ME when I was 17-18.

I missed a year of 6-form school and had to start again.

Never been sick from work for more than about 3 days at once though....

The longest I've been too ill to go to school/college/work is probably either how long chicken pox normally takes to clear up or a week, whichever is longer (I think chicken pox is though).

In all the time I've had a job I only had one day off sick (I had a part time job for the best part of 3 years).

I am invincible! Well not quite... [rofl]

I had 8 months off work after a car accident but my old company gave you unlimited sick pay after 5 years employment so that was ok, and about 16 months off with kidney problems last year and the year before, I only get 5 weeks sick pay with this job but luckily we have the mortgage payments insured and a lot of savings (which are all spent now ) thats about the only time I've really had off and it drove me nuts, i think, during the 16 months the earths air preasure decreased quite a bit cos I seem to have expanded considerably.

You know, I think being sick in college was harder than being sick after college. My professors were unforgiving bastards. However, my boss is pretty cool. I ended up working overtime a lot on Friday, like, 18 hours... but, it was because I wanted to. He kept telling me to go home.

Today, I went into work, and he emailed me from out of the country to go home. [rofl]

I understand though, I can't be coughing on the whole office making everyone else sick.

I am pretty lucky that nothing major has ever been wrong with me, other than being an idiot. But, I still have plenty of time for that.

To anyone that is sick now, I feel for ya. It sucks. Hope you all get better.

One thing though, do people always come up to you with "miracle cures"? Like, "Hey, drink 14 gallons of orange juice, dance a jig, and then skin a cat and you'll be better in no time!" People say the stupidest crap to me when I am sick like that...

When I was 7-8 I got an inner ear infection that left me in bed unable to move my head more than a cm without violently retching (since I had run out). My balance has never been the same since.

The first time I was pregnant I had a condition called pre-eclampsyia/toxemia and I was on bed rest 6 months.

I got sick last year around this time, had two surgeries in April and am just now starting to really feel like a human being again.

I had pneumonia twice in the same year when I was in Junior high. Over summer break and over Xmas break. Oh that was horrible.
