Default Fooking India and BT!!!
I dont know about you, but I am getting pissed off with BT sending my technical calls to India/. I just got BT MAXDSL over 10 days ago and in that optimisation period my download speeds have never changed [cursing] I connect at a good speed, but my Ip Profile is stuck at the old freaking speed, when it is supposed to follow my connection speed after 72hrs [rolleyes]

Now what is it with companies sourcing stuff to India? I dont want to speak to Harjit in India, I want to speak to John in newcastle. Half of them have very bad english and never seem to know what you are talking about.

I left HSBC bank because they started sourcing all my freaking calls to India. Anyone else getting pissed off with this new trend? [cursing]

Nah I am coherant, but they kept telling me my line was not capable of faster speed. yet I told the woman over and over again that it was my IP Profile. I finally found a number that gets a UK support person to ring me.

I dont mind if its Harjit in Newcastle, as long as they are based in UK and live here!

No, its my right to not be sourced to another country. Hell I would have the same problem if they sent my calls to France, Germany, USA or anywhere not based here. [rolleyes]

Whilst I don't think it's fair to be prejudice against all Indian Call Center Operatives, I can totally sympathise.

I once broke the headphone socket on my laptop (walked into it...), I called up the support line and it went through to an Indian woman I could barely understand. I tried to explain that I had the top level warrenty that covered damage of this nature and that I would like to get it fixed asap. First of all she gave me the text book "have you tried different headphones? Or have you tried the headphones that don't work in another socket?", after politely informing her that I need not try other sets because the socket was hanging from the laptop she put me on hold. Five minutes later she picked up again and almost as though she were translate the manual right there she asked me if I had checked the power cord and was I sure it was plugged in followed swiftly by a "could you try a different wall socket?". I was kind of baffled by this as previous to being put on hold she was well aware I meant the headphone socket.

Basically, this went on for about twenty-five minutes before I had to politely but abruptly inform her that she was no help as she had already been told exactly what was wrong and I just wanted it repaired, hang up. I actually ended up fixing the laptop myself in the end because voiding my three year warranty (not even a year into it) was actually easier than using one of the out sourced call centers I always got put through to. So why 'fooking' India/Indians/Harjit?

Blame BT. From the sounds of it you had a person who didnt know 'what' you were talking about as opposed to a person not 'understanding' you.

Well because Harjit is an Indian name is it not? India was where my calls were sourced, and Indian would be his nationality. [thumbup]

I think the greatest bubble in todays IT business is the assumption that all Indians are fluent in English because the language has the status of being official there.

Think again. [help]

I entirely agree, I get people from India trying to sell me Network services over the phone, generally several times per day.

Yes, we'd like to invest several hundred pounds in state of the art equipment from someone who is not capable of pronouncing Cisco.

I agree here. Whilst out in India, 99% of people speak English, there are those that still use it badly and don't have a full grasp of it because it's not their mother-tongue. I'm not prejudice against Indians or any other nationality, if they can do the job well, I'm 100% for the out sourcing. If however they cannot, I think it is better left to those who can.

Just for the record, some of my best customer service has been via Indian Call Centers.

Totally, but at least Harry can speak fluent english ( unless they are from newcastle [rofl]). Which in this case Harjit was incapable of not only speaking, but understanding my problem.

Well, im glad to see that somone else is having trouble with them! We changed over to them over 6 months back. Were on the ADSL Max package, but line onle received 2mb

for the first 2 months.... In the modem, and ADSLguides.org reported our connection was at 444kbps!!! This is unbelievable! We rang them and got the same advice "Delete cookies, clear temp folder" etc etc..

We have even had someone dial into our computer, but still no joy!

3 months later, and around £100 on phone calls to them, and we still are connected at the crappy speed!

We have been told every story under the sun, its been fixed, will be receiving a call in the next 24 hours etc... All bollox!

I HATE BT [cursing]
