Default HAHAHA. The simpsons movie trailer.
Lol this made me laugh out loud. I'm looking forward to this movie almost as much as I'm looking forward to the Futurama movie.

So the 1080p version gives me like 5fps on my system using MPC.
Yet if i turn off all the fancy DX9 stuff in MPC i can squeeze like 20fps out of it.
I made some screenies to compare and there's ZERO difference between them. nothing!
I've always wondered about the difference..so can anyone tell me?
thanks

The CoreAVC codec lets me play all the 1080p trailer I've downloaded completely smoothly on my AthlonXP 3200+.

And there i was hoping for a full 3d version of the Simpsons like when Homer got sucked into the alternative 3d world.

I dont get the whole mpc/codec/ffdshow thing...
I've got ffdshow installed it says it should use the libavcodec (whatever that means) for h264 movies.
Yet ffdshow does not show up when watching the simpsons thing.. So is it only for avi?
If so, is MPC now using quicktime alternatives codec?
If so, is CoreAVC a replacement for the quicktime alternative codec?

Hope that makes sense? thanks and sorry for the offtopic

I don't use ffdshow or quicktime alternative. Can't be arsed. CoreAVC is great for H.264 videos. You also need an audiocodec like CoreAAC though. Plays perfectly in WMP or TheaterTek for me using CoreAVC.

that trailer is a little weak imo, trying too much to be funny in the end.

Agreed. I watched it last night, and didn't budge at all. The simpson's have just lost their funny. As they said in Southpark - "Simpsons did it!"; and its true - they have done pretty much everything. I can only wonder what odd rehash of an old episode they may pull for 2 hours..

I disagree,
Imo the Simpsons still are as great as they´ve allways been.
I kinda think it´s just a "growing out of" thing,
The Simpsons have allways targeted the younger viewers while cartoons like Southpark or Family Guy are clearly set for a bit more mature viewers.
You guys are just out of the targeted area

The Simpsons stopped being funny around Series 10. Groening had left to do Futurama so he was no longer directly over seeing the production, a lot of the good writers had left by this point to pursue other projects, and The Simpsons just decided to go for Family Guy style jokes. That is not meant to be a direct attack on Family Gut, but whereby in the past the show had tried to remain grounded in a sense of emotional and social awareness of the characters involved, suddenly the show broke these boundaries and just went after cheap cut away gags, ludicrous storylines and downright unbelievable situations (Homer going to the land of the midget jockeys?) And don't get me started on the 'celebrity' appearances.

Needless to say, I haven't lol'd at The Simpsons for several years, and I don't think I'll be loling at it anytime in the future either. Which is a shame as I loved the show, I've got Series 3-7 on DVD here, but it ran its course and is now being exploited for every single penny it can.

Oh, that was all in my opinion of course. If you still like it then good on you!

To me, fox killed the wrong show - it should be Futurama that is on, and Simpson's cancled. Futurama had the ability to do something fresh and different, where as the Simpson's just lost it...

I might agree with that, except for the fact that i find the classic stuff funny still - its not a case of all the episodes lost it for me; just the newer seasons, really haven't been up to par. That, and Simpsons may look to be for younger kids, but that is not the reality...

Agreed. Because Futurama was set in the future, it had much greater plot potential without being overly rediculous.

They should have done something drastic with Simpsons. Like making the characters 6-8 years older. That would open so many potential storylines...
