Item:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=120047095268 I listed a mouse on BIN last week and someone bought it on wednesday. Tried to pay me with a PayPal credit card payment which I made clear on the listing I do not accept. I emailed him straight away and asked him to make payment by another method. Didn't hear anything so e-mailed again at the weeekend and he said he'd bought one elsewhere. He e-mailed (not through ebay) asking what my final value fee was, but I didn't reply since he could find out for himself easily enough. I filed a unpaid item dispute today and he e-mailed this morning asking me to phone him, or to give him my phone number. I haven't replied yet. What would you guys do? I think he may want to try and talk me out of doing the unpaid item item dispute, however there is no way that's gonna happen. I'm thinking I will just e-mail back and say I don't see what else there is to discuss, he failed to read the description properly and failed to make payment so he is deserving of the unpaid item strike. eBay is far nicer to buyers than it is to sellers so I feel I should not let his mistake go unpaid for. He's left me positive feedback for some reason, which is nice! I will leave him a negative (first one I've ever had to give) once the dispute is over and I have my fees back. Sorry for the long post! |

I say give him a call as he wants, but don't be talked out of recovering the fees.
If he offers to make a seperate payment to you for the fees, that would be the quickest and easiest way to resolve the situation, without needing to get ebay involved. You could also then leave him neutral feedback, which is better for him than a negative. Its frustating I know, as a lot of ebayers don't seem to understand that the moment they win an auction, its a contract for them to complete. Its not "optional", in the case they then get it from elsewhere. They have bought the item at the moment the auction closes, not the moment it arrives in the post to them! - although not everyone realises and remembers this. |

Thanks for the reply Chris.
I haven't contacted him yet since I've just woken up after going to the student bar after lectures, I can feel the hangover already! Anyway... I don't really want him to make payment for fees because then he would not get the unpaid item strike (and possibly the negative feedback) which I feel timewasting buyers deserve. Anyone else have any input? |

Personally, let it go. If the guy is offering to pay your fee's for you then I cant really see the problem, other than you still have your mouse to sell. Its not like he's told you to f*** off is it?
![]() *edit* just looked at your auction page, I've always been of the opinion that if you dont want credit card payments through Paypal, dont offer the facility to use Paypal. It really pissed me off on a couple of deals where I saw the Paypal logo only to have a payment rejected by the seller because they said Paypal charged them. So what!? The charge on that mouse of yours is pence, hardly worth bothering about really is it? But if you are bothered about it simply add a percentage onto your shipping charges. Anyway mate, just my 2 cents ![]() |
