Haha... never read it but I couldn't make much sense of it...

Anyways, what's the point of sending stuff like that? What are they selling?

That's what I've been wondering. If they are going to spam you anyways, how come lots of them are accompanied by a few paragraphs from some book?

I guess that the snippets of classic literature are supposed to bypass spam filters. Too bad there's no sales pitch attached, though. Either that or some worldwide spam cabal has taken it upon itself to once again interest people in reading. Maybe they're concerned about the state of affairs in education.

I would guess they are trying to mess up people's spam filters, so that when they do send some real spam (an email selling something) it has less of a chance of getting blocked.

That's what it seems to be doing to me anyway, lots of normal emails now get labelled as spam and more spam also seems to get though these days. This time last year, I got around 10 spam messages a day, but only 1 a week got through, it's now gone up to 2 a day.
