Hey, we all know Hammond is probably already sitting there asking when he needs to be down at the studio and the donations ARE a very good indication of support for Hammond and what he does. The donations show that Top Gear viewers are not crazy and think nothing will ever hurt you as long as you're going fast, it shows that they can make the connection between speed and danger and are donating to thank the service for helping Hammond as well as anyone else out there. Hammond is already walking a little bit and making phone calls and stuff, can you picture what he's going to be like after a month or just kicking it in the hospital or at home? I really do think he'll be ready to come back to Top Gear and do the in studio hosting, I also think he will want to not just for the fans, but because he loves it and he'll be bored to death by then. ![]() |

Do they shout for F1 to be axed when people crash? do they shout for nascar to be axed when folk crash, nope, this is basicly the same thing, just people being annoying. no matter how hard TG tries to be safe it will never be as safe as F1 OR Nascar. but TG shouldnt be taken off the Air |

true but F1 and Nascar are completely different animals compared to Top Gear I agree, there are more safety precautions in place with the former two, but it is in no way a safe sport in reality. Hehe even a soccer player can be killed by lightening and hence it's a lethal sport ( jk offcourse ). More serieus, yeah so there are more ambulances, still if they crash they can have serieus injuries no matter how well protected the drivers are. And as stated before, there are more accidents (small one's and big one's) in one season then I seen on tg in total ( not that they would show them (all|?!)). Damnit reading this back I should use less () [thumbup] |

I'm really glad to hear this but I'm still hoping within 4 to 6 weeks Hammond is well enough to host Top Gear since most of the "action" stuff is already filmed. With him being on his feet (if not slightly unstable) right now I could see him in great condition within a month or so and maybe good enough to joke around with Clarkson and May soon! |

I read they expect him to have made nearly a full recovery in three weeks [thumbup] |

The BBC have postponed Top Gear indefinitely but 56,000 fans have signed a petition begging for a U-turn. The online message — Save Top Gear at www.petitiononline.com — states: “We believe Top Gear should be kept on our screens.”
Meanwhile it emerged yesterday that the promise of a £50,000 donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was a HOAX. The fund total now stands at a revised £148,000. Hmm, I stand slightly corrected on how much online petitions do, however, I still think sending in real letters would help far more. The jackass that did the 50k hoax makes me mad though, I really hope in the next few days I read that some rich person or famous person decides to donate 50k or even better, double it to 100k to make up for the loser who bailed out. I think these donates might also really help Top Gear stay online. |
