I hope it will be good. I pray it will be good.

But I have a horrible feeling it won't be.

The three (I think?) specials they did a year or 2 ago were horrendous.

I really hope they've got it right this time.

Thing is they are all really great comedians, it's all about how good the new scripts are really. The old ones were the best, and they were also made cheap on a shoe string budget

Series 1 to 3 were Epic. Series 4 and 5 less so. Everything past that started to get pretty ropey.

You gotta be shitting me, Legion, Psirens, Holoship, Inquisitor.

The only truly shocking season was 7.

What?! 1-6 are pure gold. series 6 where they lose Red Dwarf and have to survive on Starbug is brilliant and what an ending to that series. After that they're all quite terrible.
The earlier series weren't as good as the mid to late (up to 6)

7 upset me by how bad it was, like they were all caricatures of the old characters. "DWAYNE??" didn't i see that episode years ago, except with added humour? get out.

not sure if i should watch this series after seeing the recentish special. is it going to upset someone who liked series 1 - 6 and really likes the books?

I actually enjoyed it, some of it felt a little forced but there were some genuine laugh out loud moments.
Lister gets a bit of a bum deal in this episode but the others, especially the Cat shine.

It's worth watching for the sets alone.

Personally I think it has legs and it's not going to ruin any nostalgia you have for the old series.

Recorded it and finally watched it.

Much better than I had hoped, had that proper Red Dwarf feel about it from the early series.

Some great moments.

Just watched the first episode of RD10. I was happily surprised. The part where Rimmer failed his exam and Kryten declared it was another "Hey ho pip and dandy moment" had me rolling about.

I have to add that when Kochanski arrived in series 7, this series became very drab and dull for me. Kochanski wasn't played by Clare Grogan either. I'm glad she isn't in these.

Roll on Epi 2.

Have to say it was very good also, love the cheesy special effects (where Rimmer's hard drive crashed...) and the humour was spot on and consistent throughout.

Looking forward to Ep2!

Caught up on this the other day, not a bad start... how old does everyone look and what's happened to Krytens eyes? Anyway, yeah couple of laugh out loud, so fingers crossed...

Definitely a weaker episode humour wise but I still enjoyed it, the idea of pre empting your own actions and chastising yourself in advance was pretty novel. Overall I think they tried to weave too many plots into one episode without exploiting them to their full comedic potential.

Comparatively they spent a great amount of time building up the moose joke to its crescendo and it paid off.

The computer alone could have filled the episode ala Queeg, there was more humour that could have been wrung from that scenario before the inevitable conclusion.

Episode 1 proves the best moments are when the crew are combined.

Also, Kryten has been weak through both episodes, almost a filler character when considering how integral he became in the latter episodes.

"sir are you absolutely sure, it does mean changing the bulb"
