Apparently Google haven't been working on an app and have no plans to produce one in the near future.

I have a gut feeling that Google at least started working on a new app, but after the reaction of the Apple map program canned it to send Apple users running to Android.
I hear that the Apple Map program has lots bugs in the train route particularly in the London to Brighton route. What good is that? |

I'm pretty sure Google is going to make an app for it. Google stating that they are not releasing an app for the iPhone does not surprise me one bit. |

I honestly don't see what motivation Google would have for doing so. It's not their phone system/OS and I don't see how it would be beneficial for Google to invest resource into developing, releasing, and maintaining an app to enhance a competitors device for free. That is reason enough for them to release an app, although they might have held back knowing that Apple might block it at the app store. |

Mind trying to convey that thought again? Maybe use a morsel of logic next time. |

Google would be doing this for free. That's all Google cares about. Not to mention that half the traffic for Google Maps is coming from mobile devices, half of which are iPhone users, do you really think Google want to lose that amount of users ? |

What's not to understand? I am talking about iPhone users not having to pay for the ability to download and use this application. This brings an improvement to a product that belongs to Googles competitor. Unless there is some kind of monetary exchange or some other beneficial reason for Google to do this, then I stand by my statement that Google would be doing this for free. Google is an advertising company. You should be able to draw some lines from there. |

By free you mean the data collected from the few tens of millions of iPhone users who will immediately install the Google Maps app ? Let's start from the beginning. Unless there is some kind of monetary exchange or some other beneficial reason for Google to do this. Now think about this statement. If there was nothing for Google to gain by releasing a map app for iPhone, then they would be doing so for free. Where is the breakdown in logic for this? |
