Default Mclaren: Hamilton out, Perez in.
Not 100% what I was expecting, but I think it's happened.

Perez is a bit of a curve ball going to mclaren, but an exciting move. Both moves could be quite exciting really. Really interested to see what happens to schumacher and Ferrari's massa now. Schumy will be retiring i think...

The combination of Ross Brawn and Lewis Hamilton could be an exciting one. Brawn has a track record of producing excellent cars and Hamilton is one of the few drivers (in my opinion) on the grid who can really push a car to its limits and get the most out of it.

If Mercedes get it right when the new rules come in (2014?) regarding engines etc. this could be a very good move for Lewis.

Brawn was a great Technical Director, but Rory Byrne designed all the winning cars for Benetton and Ferrari over those years. If Mercedes are holding back until 2014, because of the huge rule changes, they might reproduce the success Brawn had back in 2009, but that means 2013 is going to be a rough year for Hamilton. Saying that, with stable rules in 2013 it's mostly about catching up rather than perfection.

I hope they get their reliability fixed, (merc), because I see this as a horrible move. Lotus/Ferrari/Red Bull would have been the only choices from McLaren.

Perez deserves to be in a better car, he's amazing.

I always thought Kobayashi was the most impressive rookie in recent times, but I don't think anyone would argue that Perez has blown him away.

Hamilton will have a challenge next year alright, he'll have to get used to seeing the back of Perez's car when he wins the 2013 championship...

I really didnt think McLaren would get Perez, but wow what a signing.

Likewise for Mercedes, great for them to get Lewis...however im not too optimistic about the Lewis-Brawn combination.

Ross Brawn is finished i think, he hasnt been able to adapt his team well for what..2 seasons now ? Times have changed and he simply hasnt changed with them.

Lastly, id hate to see Schumacher go, i really wanted to see him one last time in a good car (the Mercedes is shyte at the moment lets face it).

They say he might go to Sauber..which IMO is a small step up from the Merc, i have a feeling Sauber might be good for one more season. Their biggest problem is while on some days they clearly have a race winning car, other days the car cant make Quali 2.

This reminds a bit of the move Senna made when he moved away from Mclaren. He left for Williams because they were winning all the races, but the year he joined, the FIA banned most of William's driver aids and ended up in a worst car IMO.

But I guess he couldn't go to Ferrari as Alonso won't allow it and Red Bull seem pretty happy with their current lineup. Plus he used to go racing with Rosberg in his Karting days.

Apparently Bernie reckons the new 2014 engines will be scrapped :-

http://www.hindustantimes.com/Motor-...e1-937322.aspx

So that's potentially backfired already for Hamilton...

I don't see that as a negative, the Merc engine is widely regarded as the best at the moment, so yeah I say keep it.

I personally think this is great news, F1 can get so stale at times and a little shack up is good for everyone.

And if we finally see the back of Schumacher so much the better.
