Default So, anything fun to do in Zurich?
I'm going there next week for a 3-day training course. Never been there before.

I'll probably only end up seeing the inside of a hotel / conference center - but on the off-chance that I actually get some free time - what is there that's worth doing in Zurich - any suggestions?

Yeah you should check out that clinic where they euthanize people. It's prolly a few clicks from Zurich though.

Walk around the central part of the city and along the lake, maybe walk down the Bahnhofsstrasse (Main Station Street)

visit the following bars & cafes (you may need to translate some):

I wouldn't say Zürich is really a "fun" city, but it is very nice. As UTGeneral said, the central/old city and waterfront are pretty nice.

I would also recommend taking the S10 train from the Zürich main station to the top of Üetliberg. It's a great view since it's almost 500 meters up and less than 5km from the city center. The train it takes less than 30 minutes to get there.

Otherwise, this is actually a pretty thorough list of things to see/do in Zürich.

One of the great things about Zürich is that it's a pretty good starting point for experiencing all the really great things Switzerland has to offer. In my opinion most of those great things revolve around the natural beauty and excellent infrastructure for enjoying it whether it be hiking, skiing, mountain biking, or one of many other sports/activities. Unfortunately that is not really an option on a business trip, but maybe you'll see enough to come back for it some time.

The weather will also not really be in your favour this time of year. It tends to be pretty foggy in Zürich from September through February although it usually clears by the afternoon.

Cheers chaps

Not sure how much actual free time I'll get, but I will certainly bear the (sensible) suggestions in mind!
