Meh, If it weren't my wife's new favourite toy I would hit the iPad in half...

IMO, it's a bit like the Al Capone case. The FBI couldn't get him on murder or the other countless crimes he committed. But what they could charge him on was Tax evasion. Sure they didn't manage to charge him on the worst of his crimes, but he was charged and justice was served none the less.

I personally don't agree on a lot of the things Apple was allowed to patent. But if you actually read what happened in the court case, it is pretty clear that Samsung didn't just take design ideas from Apple, but there was a concerted effort to make their devices look Apple like.
