...and no updates.

Samsung biggest flaw in the mobile phone market is lack of updates. They release a phone and then forget about it. No thanks.

On their cheap models. But even the Ace went from Froyo to Gingerbread. They're just excruciatingly slow with them, which makes the Note 2 JB launch strange for them.

i9000 Eclair > Froyo > Gingerbread.

Sometimes it's the fault of your stupid carrier based modelling.

Apple doesn't forget updates. They make sure that every subsequent update makes their phones slower and less usable, right up until you are ready to buy the next one.

Rubbish.

They've been upgrading software over the last few years on phones faster than every other Android Manufacturer with the only exception being the Google Nexus products.

Nope, I use various Android devices and Samsung upgrade faster than other manufactures.

What about the Galaxy S2? international version received ICS long before equivalent hardware from other manufactures and the Galaxy S3 is about to receive Jellybean again before HTC, LG, Sony etc.

As for the US versions, the fault is with the carriers over there.

*Sigh*

I forget that mobile phone discussions are like religious ones and like religions, all mobile phones suck. People defend their own mobile phones and hate other's irrationally.

The general truth:
  • Android Phones Suck
  • iPhones Suck
Deal with it.

Whatever, it does happen to be true that Samsung are updating software faster than other Android manufactures.

Apple is now going after the SG3 and Note. Trying to get them banned.

I figure Apple will just be in a continual war, especially with their #1 compeition with the cash reserves they have and decreasing marketshare in smartphones that will lead over into tablets soon which is their bread and butter.

It's really Google they are after, but Samsung have a smaller legal team so each win builds up a case against Google in the future. Once they are done kicking Samsung enough they eventually turn on Google and the Android phones will dry up, all this fighting is making Microsoft very happy.

Steve Jobs would have been happy to see Google go out of business, but their new leader (Tim Cook) seems to be a lot more sensible about it. As they still have the lines of communication open with Google and Google has tried to distance itself from the Samsung case by releasing communications where they warn Samsung against making their devices look so similar to Apple's. So I personally think Apple and Google will eventually come to some sort of agreement.

Apple and MS already came to a cross licensing deal a few years ago where they aren't allowed to copy each other's UI. Which might partly account for the new direction MS have been going with the Metro interface.

So? That's like saying that Pol Pot is the least unhinged of the historical communist leaders.

Not surprising considering the Asus tablets have been the flagship devices for Google for a while now and they make the Nexus 7.

But sure Samsung are not always first, but to say they are slow with updates is just nonsense when you consider how long is takes some of the others.

Just because some companies are even slower doesn't mean that they are fast.
