I wish I had read that thread earlier
![]() I ordered a 8800GT from OCUK. They did their job well and shipped the card quickly to Switzerland via the "Royal Mail International Priority Signed For" service. They sent me the consignment number from RM. However RM managed to lose my card. The tracking is still showing the initial status " We have received your item, posted on 22/11/07 and it is being processed for delivery abroad". It's been 10 days now. The priority delivery from UK to Switzerland usually takes 3 days. There is also no trace of my package in the Swiss Track & Trace system. So I guess the card never left UK. I sent a webnote to OCUK requesting some help because I'm a customer & I paid a high priority delivery fee. Moreover, living in Switzerland & being a swiss citizen, I needed their help because they know UK & Royal Mail better than me of course. All I got was this answer: Dear XXX XXXX, There is absolutely nothing that we can do until it has either been delivered or 21 days have passed. After 21 days Royal Mail will assume that the parcel is lost and we will be able to claim our money back. After that we would then be able to re-ship the item to you. Regards, Dan Worral I understand it is not OCUK's fault and I understand they say they will send another card in 1 month or so (when they got THEIR money back from RM even though it's mine actually, and this claim will probably take several days). But this e-mail is so cold, I mean they could at least say something like "We are sorry for what is happening" or whatever, no really this email shows that they don't care at all, they have my money, so where is the problem ? I'll tell you where the problem is: if you know that you'll get the money back from RM and if you have all the evidences (dead RM tracking) that the card is lost then you should satisfy your customer at once and send him another card NOW and not in one month when its value will have dropped. Why should I be responsible for this ? I paid the full price and got nothing for it. Also, in one month, if they don't get the money back from RM, they don't send me another card and I have lost my rights to contest the transaction through my bank so.... I know I sound like a whiner but it's annoying that the customer who pays honestly with his hard earned money is the one who gets f#cked in the end. [xmassad] |

seeing as GT's are like rocking horse **** these days I bet some geek in royal mail chaved it...
as for the 21 day thing that is correct. I even had an Item that was signed for that was supposedly delivered to my address but it never was. filled in a form to confirm I had not received to goods so they sign to say they sent it at their end. both get sent to RM a week later I had my replacement car stereo. and I was told that if it gets delivered please could you contact us to arrange a return. wasn't with OC-UK Though why should you apologize for something that is totally out of your control ? its not OC's fault some sticky fingered postie tike has got his hands on ur GT but more than likely some thieving **** from HM/EU customs having it for himself but touch wood I have never had a problem with OC_UK but I have recently ordered an 8800 gt that was showing +10 as of friday and I too have been parked in the warehouse waiting list |

If someone stole it then it makes me wonder how he could have known it was a GT, I mean he wouldn't probably open all the parcels just to see what's inside, he would get busted quickly. So it could be that the packaging was poor or OC wrote 8800GT on the green customs slip which would be very stupid from them.
I'll never know what happened, that was just bad luck, life goes on... [xmasgrumpy] |

After reading most of this thread I racked my brain trying to think of a time when I had trouble with OCUK but tbh I can't. Not even the few odd times when I have had to RMA something, and I have been using them for alot of years.
That said they aren't the site I personally have at the top of my list. Scan gets my vote as online PC retailer to use, used them for ages and they have never once let me down, even on really bad cases when they falsely advertised a product as in stock and it wasn't they did everything to help me resolve the problem they could. That and if you know what your doing you can use usefull codes on their site for such things as free delivery, which knocks loads of some orders as I am sure people know. What I tend to do these days is use OcUK to browse for goods, then buy them cheaper with Scan, say what you like about OcUK but I think they have a good site layout. Not that it gets them anymore of my money after readint this thread ofcource. |

Sorry for the late reply. It got sorted in the end. I gave them a ring, and got through instantly with no que. I explained the situation and gave them my order number, and almost immediately he said that something isnt right, as at the time they had 200 in stock delivered a week ago. For some reason my order hadnt been printed in the warehouse, so while I was on the phone, he went to the warehouse, printed off my picking list, and assured me he would send it as soon as I had finished on the phone. Sure enough, next day the order arrived perfectly! [thumbup]

I had a nightmare experience with overclockers about 6 months ago when i bough some memory from them.
I purchased 2gb OCZ pc2 8500 (£123.00) for my new pc, it arrived on time, but one of the modules was DOA. I called them up, went through all the questions etc and i came to an agreement with the phone operator. As i really needed my PC that week for work and didnt have an alternative source of memory i asked if it was possible for me to turn up on the day, get the memory tested, and get a replacement there and then. If i sent the memory back for RMA it would have taken up to 5 days to get a replacement. As i live in Wolverhampton, stoke is around an hour away (35-40 miles) so i was prepared to drive up there. The guy on the phone said to me that if i turned up at 9am when they opened, i could have the memory tested there and then and get a replacement. I thought great, i can get a replacement on the day and have my pc up and running. So... I drove up in the morning, it took me an hour and 10 minutes because of traffic. Got to the OcuK office about 9:05am. I explained to the guy who was working at the front desk (The manager) the phone conversation i had with one of their operatives and he flat out accused me of being a liar. He said to me that he stands behind every call technition when they receive a phone call, listens to their conversations and if the guy has said what he said to me, he would have been fired immediately... As im a patient, unargumentative guy, i didnt say anything back to him baffled by what he had said. He seemed completely unphased by the fact he had bare face called me a liar and didnt say sorry for supplying me faulty goods. I thought screw this, walked out, drove back home, bought some memory from microdirect (it came the next day) and got a refund from ocuk. peace. |

I ordered a HD-DVD drive from overclockers.co.uk on Tuesday and selected delivery on Thursday (today). I checked on the order last night, yet the order was showing as 'In our warehouse queue'. If it was a Thursday delivery it should have been sent! I have just checked now, and it is still showing as In our warehouse queue, and I havent recieved it!!! The product page is now showing as Pre-Order, even though the site said 10+ in stock when I ordered it, and the amount in stock had dropped down to 4 an hour after me ordering it.
Whats going on? |

Back in the day their stuff used to be cheap so i put up with crap like that and a awful returns service. Arrogant company, arrogant staff, and their prices are nothing special. There's no reason to buy from them in my book. |

Not to mention that their MD has questionable views on race and those views are often aired on the OcUK forums. Anybody who challenges his views are permanently banned, yet he makes out that this isn't the case as long you're polite about challenging him. By polite, he means you must not disagree with him or suggest to him that he has broken his own forum's rules. When I was banned for doing this, several people asked him why, so he made up some pathetic bullshit excuse that I was a previously banned returnee. |

I used to buy religiously from there, until I started noticing their prices were no longer all that competitive. Mr Proudfoot (Chairman) or Spie as he's more commonly known thesedays has always been a homophobic, fascist and a racist. He rarely thinks before putting his highly debatable opinions across, if you dare disagree with him you're likely to receive a ban or have your account removed. For a supposedly successful businessman, he sure does now how to put his foot in sh*t time and time again.
Unless you missed it, his defining moment was when he posted a thread on his forum titled "Why do paki's smell?". That thread alone stopped me from ever spending my hard earned cash with OCUK again. I'd never had a single problem with their service, but the thought of lining that idiots pockets turned me away. |
