for a notebook I believe I'd choose normal. Same with my computer. If I ever do choose to obtain a tv (not likely, as I've not purchased a tv in nearly ten years), it'll be widescreen. My brother's tv has it so it'll maintain the initial aspect ratio when seeing normal tv (which places black bars to the factors). I believe I'd choose that.
