So sorry to hear that, Lonestar; I know how hard it is. I had to put down both my cats within a year of each other. One was 16 years old, the other 21.

It was the last time I cried.
21!!! Holy moly!

All you have to do is feed them and clean the litter box, dogs are more demanding, you can't leave them alone a lot because you have to walk them, unless you have a big garden.

So, I thought I had cried it all out last night, but I came back to my apartment this afternoon and instinctively started looking for him since he wasn't meeting me at the door. Once I realized what I was doing the tears came back.

It might be comforting to know that your affections for your cat are simply the result of a well-evolved set of feline psychological tricks intended to endear him to you. Also, the presence of this effect is a good indicator that you may not be a psychopath.

We had to put down my wifes cat last year (maybe two years ago). He had a sixth toe like a thumb. His name was Toonces.

Where does the name "Toonces" come from?

My work partner has a cat with the same name...
SNL recurring skit. Toonces the driving cat.

Sorry to hear that. You know he was suffering though and you couldn't have wanted that to go on.

My condolences. Had to put down our last cat last year, and my last black lab the year before.

I put down the cat I've had since 8th Grade today. It basically came down to doing what amounted to a daily kitty IV that MIGHT temporarily alleviate his symptoms(rapid weight loss; he went from 10lbs to 5 in 2 months, loss of kidney function) or...well, no other options.

I don't regret the decision, and know it was the right one but I still feel like ****.

****.

This cat has been mine for 17 years.

Dammit cat don't tell me how to play Civilization.

my condolences.
the hurt will become less with time
