Hey Ben, how does it feel that Rivers is now up there with JP Losman as the worst QB's of that draft class? Hrm?
The man is 30 with 163 TD passes, (63rd all time), 24,285 yards, (66th all time), career passer rating of 95.5 (5th all time). He's only worse than Eli and Rapistberger if you don't take interceptions into account. Rivers has 78 in his career, while Eli has 129. More than 50 percent as likely to throw an INT. Anyways: TDs: Sheli - 185 TDs Rapistburger - 165 TDs PR - 163 TDs. Yardage: Sheli - 27,579 Rapistburger - 26,579 PR - 24,285 Eli for Rivers and a pick that became Shawn Merriman... freaking fleecing of the decade. Are 22 TDs, and 3k yards worth 51 INTs? At -45 yards/INT you get about -2.2k yardage. Meaning that the comparison between Eli and Rivers is about 1k yardage difference over their entire career. Rapistburger at 25 INTs more than Rivers, gets -1.1k yards, putting him very close to Sheli. I would say that Eli, Rivers and Rapistburger are all within about 1k in value from each other. Rivers has a career AV of around 87, Eli has 75, Rapistburger is around 80. Give Rivers the extra season that Rapistburger and Manning have on him, and Rivers' numbers will be higher. The Merrimonster's value was about half that of Eli's so far, so not only did they get the better QB, they also got half the value again from Merriman. So yeah, 1.5 - 1 value? I'll take that trade any day and twice on sunday. Rapistburger 80-33, (over 8 full seasons), Rivers 63-33, (over 6 full seasons), Eli 69-50 (over 7 full seasons). Numbers are clear as a bell, Rivers, in fewer games, has thrown more TDs and more yards per game than Eli, and has the superior record. Rapistburger is, right now, the class of that draft. Eli is third. Edit: missed 2 rapistburgers. Fixed now. |

Hell, Albert, that 2004 class is better than Marino, Elway and Kelly back in 1983.
Kelly, 34k yardage, 237 TDs, 101-59. 1 more 10 win season and and another 11 win season will put Roethlisburger ahead. 3 for Rivers. PR would need 2.5 seasons of 4k yards, two of 5k yards to match Kelly. Eli and Rapistburger should pass him in 2 more seasons. Elway through 30 had 24.7k yards, (about 500 more than Rivers), over 8 seasons, 135 TDs and 128 INTs. Eli throws INTs about as often as Elway, but with an extra 50 TDs. Rivers has 30 more TDs himself. Marino through 30, had 35k yards, 266 TDs and 149 INTs, through 9 seasons. Rivers with 9 years and not 6 would have 243 TDs, 36k yards, and 117 Ints. So the 2004 draft season has a Dan Marino (Philip Rivers), an Elway (Eli) and a much better Jim Kelly (Rapistburger). |

Nice situation ethics, dude. Poor data/access security is not permission for grand larceny. Also, the man was ordered to pay back the bank, so they're not eating the loss. I mean, realistically they are, since the dude's not likely to pay the money back, but whatever. |

My point is given by your own admission that they are similar statistically, the fact that Eli and Big Ben have won the SB twice each is pretty damning for Rivers and gives them the edge. Two SB victories by QB's their age is really nothing to sniff at. And a 3rd for each of them is hardly a stretch of the imagination. Eli's winning percentage is .580. Average winning percentage of playoff eligible teams is .625.
He's had 4 seasons where he would qualify, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010. Rivers has 3 seasons, 14-2, 11-5, 13-3, despite having a winning percentage of .656 Eli has a 43 percent chance (ignoring his rookie season), of getting a 10 win season. Over 7 seasons, we'd expect to see exactly 3. He has 4. Rivers has about a 75 percent chance of getting a 10 win season, every season. He has 3 so far. Statistics show that Rivers is unlucky, while Eli is lucky. All else being considered equal. a consistently good defense Aahahahahahahahahahaha. No. Sorry. Eli has been carried by his defense all his career. Rivers last year was all they had, no defense, no rb, no receivers. |

If you leave cash on your table and a visitor takes it, he is not a thief? Better yet, you park your car on a public street and someone breaks in and steals it, he is not a thief? I mean you just left your car there. Does it make a difference if the window's open and the keys are in the glove compartment? |

If I build a machine that is supposed to control the distribution of money to people with credit at my institution, and I **** up and the machine gives more money than it's supposed to, isn't that my fault? Nobody broke in to a car, or took unguarded money off of a table. The bank gave it to him through their own incompetence. Sure, the bank is responsible for safeguarding access to its cash. People are also responsible for not taking things that do not belong to them or they have no legal right to. |
