NYC is a different kind of place. That article talks about people in NYC who want to build the world's first underground park using an old trolley stop that has been abandoned since the 1940's. They want to use parabolic mirrors and fiber optical lines to funnel natural light under the street so trees & plants can grow and then renovate this underground area larger than a US football field plus it's located in the lower east side which is traditionally a poor area for recent immigrants without improvements such as parks. This sounds like a great way to reuse a space which has been neglected for almost 70 years so that park space can be brought to a part of the city where it is really lacking. ![]() |
