I don't actually want credit at all. I'm just doing it for the rewards program and because of the ridiculous way credit scores work. If I could have gotten the same card with all the same features except that it debited my checking account I would have done so.

I have no use for a credit card here. Even a debit card is of dubious value since the only ATMs are right next to the bank and can't give out enough cash anyways. My credit is good everywhere in town though!

I do have a penny balance on my Paypal :/

Think for a moment about the equilibrium solution of the system in which people have N+1 payment options: cash, and N different credit cards, each of which has monopsony power over retailers (in particular, it can force retailers not to add a markup to people using its card).
