Default Your Favorite BBC News Story
Here are some of mine
On the April 30 edition of "BBC World," Justin Webb reported on rising fuel costs and how the increase in prices affect the American public. According to Mr. Webb, many Americans drive cars nearly the size of big rigs http://newsbusters.org/blogs/kristin...ize-big-rig-s-

And this one is also a great story.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7313618.stm

Two people have been killed and at least four others injured in a crane collapse at a high-rise construction site in Miami, Florida.
The crane fell on top of an unoccupied home used as an office at the site of the 50-storey tower on Biscayne Bay.
Correspondents say the construction industry in the US state is unregulated and there is no licensing system. And this one is also quite instructive.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6562529.stm

Why are shootings at educational institutions so common in the US?

This depends on who you ask. For those opposed to the country's liberal gun laws the key problem is easy access to highly powered weapons. They say the school shootings merely throw into sharp relief what is happening across a country where 30,000 people die of gun wounds every year. Others contend that these killings take place within a deep culture of violence, which they say is promoted in the US through music, film and video games.

But they have cool graphics and invoke a Pavlovian response when they have that ringing bell techno sound. And that is what really matters.

We listen to Radio 4 online from this site:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/ ,

and watch the World Service (or however the international tv channel is packaged), and visit the bbc.co.uk website all the time, and I don't find anything like the a systematic anti-American bias implied by these randomly selected articles and highlighted quotations.

Still, wasn't GT banned rather quickly? I realize I am not privy to the PM netherworld of this forum, so I am perhaps missing important evidence, but I believe I have read enough on its public area to say I've read worse from members who have not been banned.

I don't think you have been around long enough to know the history with GT. The post you saw are just the beginning of a routine we have seen run it's course many times. There was agreement between moderators that banning him was the correct course of action.

If you have seen posts you think should receive the moderator's attention please flag the post.

Guys, maybe this last bit is more of a PM moment? (possibly up to the "quotations" bit on hbcats last post).

We could probably get rid of most of the rest (including this)... your call...

I won't sleep at night until everyone has seen it.

Seriously though, if I didn't think it should be posted publicly I wouldn't have posted it, simple as that.

It's ok guys, I don't need to see the CSI evidence. Just a query.

Alonzo -- Your moderation has been friendly and helpful in my limited experience on the forum. I was just asking.

I think I'll stop here rather than gossip about things when I don't have the full picture.
