is there a minimum warranty imposed by law for electric and electro-mechanical products (like dishwashers, tv etc)?
in europe this is 2 years.
the reason for this question is that I am moving to NY in a couple of weeks

But they will sell you an extended warranty when you buy a new appliance.

The distributor makes a lot of money off of extended warranties, but we have used the one for our clothes washing machine numerous times over the past 10 years, so it has paid for itself.
