As good as they are, the iPad is still a cut above them.

I think that the Nexus 7 is the first properly polished android tablet which can start to compete better against the iPad.
Not really. The Nexus 7 is basically an Asus tablet with a lot of features (HDMI out, SD card) left off. And yeah the iPad is still way above them in many ways.

Not surprising, from the specs I get the impression Samsung are not taking the Tablet market very seriously. Thankfully Asus and now Google are, the Transformer series are great tablets and Nexus 7 for the price is fantastic.

Yeah but what your leaving out is that it's an Asus Tablet for less than half the price of the high end tablets and it also has a Quad Core processor, something even the iPad doesn't have.

Not to mention Tegra versions of games look allot better than the iPad versions despite the performance difference of the graphics chips.

Last quarter? Wouldn't that be during the period of time Samsung was forced to remove their product from sale in the USA pending the out come of a court case?
^^^^^This^^^^^

Apple will probably end up losing the lawsuit, which is what this thread is really about.

I am not leaving anything out. The point was that the Nexus 7 is not a miracle tablet and android tablets won't sell better once there is something as good in 10" versions - since there is! The tf300t is pretty identical to the Nexus 7 apart from that it doesn't lack an SD card slot and it doesn't lack an HDMI out. The tf700 is better in every way.

What the Nexus 7 has going for it is that it is cheap.

As for the quad core CPU - there isn't really anything out there that runs better on it than on the dual core CPU of the iPad. Also, apart from a few games that are made to look better on the Tegra (by looking terrible on everything else on purpose), there isn't really anything that looks better on it.

Nobody said Nexus 7 was a miracle tablet but for the price it offers a hell of allot, you would have to be very biased not to recognize this.

I see price being a major feature as well, after all in a market the price ultimately determines if the product is good or not.

Not to mention that the Nexus 7 is more polished than other android tablets, even if it lack certain features (like the iPad).

I think that the Nexus 10 will bring that same polished stock android polish to the 10 inch size.

Actually:

I think that the Nexus 7 is the first properly polished android tablet which can start to compete better against the iPad. It is not. There are plenty of polished android tablets out there, the Nexus 7 is just incredibly cheap. Also, I hope that you're not saying that I'm biased towards Apple products

That was me saying it, not him.

Isn't that a great feature to have ? For a tablet with the quality and power of the Nexus 7. It offers something other Android tablets don't offer.

yeah, Ive always found that to be the case with apple products too.
In the many areas that matter they have some of if not the highest specs in the market. How can you call them terrible?
EDIT: Assuming we are talking about tablets not Apple in general.

And the iPad running at crazy high resolution runs butter smooth still which shows you number of cores is nothing more than a number without the software to back it.
Not to mention Tegra versions of games look allot better than the iPad versions despite the performance difference of the graphics chips.
Of course they do, that is entirely intentional. They specifically disable effects to make the Tegra version seem superior.

The Nexus 7 is a fantastic tablet and is very smooth too but most of that is attributed to the OS, not the number of cores.

Which doesn't exclude you from the "nobody said xy" claim.

Saying that the Nexus 7 is better than the other tablets and that maybe in the future we'll see other tablets that can match the Nexus 7 at a larger size is simply incorrect, since there are plenty of tablets that exceed it in every way possible - but of course they also cost more.

I would have loved to pick up a Nexus 7 myself - but it lacked some features that I think are a must have for a tablet. Expandable storage is one of them and an HDMI port is great if you travel a lot and want to hook it up to the TV at a hotel for instance.

Apple's shear dominance in the tablet market is more attributed to superior software than hardware. With the Nexus 7, Google has proven that they can compete in the software arena with JB 4.1. Before ICS, Google's OS still struggled to offer the streamlined and fluid experience IOS gave its users, which held back a lot of quality Tablets that had very nice hardware inside. With the success of the Nexus 7, I foresee Google being more aggressive in the market, and providing a Tablet that will give the iPad a run for its money. If they release a 10" version of the Nexus with a high resolution screen, expandable storage, and the same fantastic construction as the Nexus 7 (and for less than $500), it will sell like crazy.

Personally I just buy the best, not the most popular. Currently got an iPad 3 because nothing can touch the experience it offers. If someone else offers something better when I upgrade I will buy that instead.

I'm seriously thinking about picking one of those up today. When I played with the Nexus 7, the only thing I didn't like was the screen size. It was just a little too small for me. Sure, it's larger than a smart phone, but 10" is kinda the sweet spot imo.

Being able to carry a tablet in your combats/back pocket is the sweet spot for me

Everyone has their own needs, though.

This is the reason you bought Beats headphones?

Fact. The GPU in it beats anything that you can find in other tablets and the screen can't be touched either.
...which, for a touch-screen device, could prove to become a real problem.

sorry I had to
