Default Court documents show appaling Galaxy Tab Sales
Oh dear...

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/08/...ng-sold-37000/

Less than 37,000 in the last quarter in the U.S.

There is also a huge difference betwen IDC estimates and what Samsung's internal documents show, which calls into question the accuracy of the IDC numbers.

i thought this was common knowledge? I dont know of anyone with a galaxy tab. I never even found them remotely desirable.

I never understood why anyone would get one of them. Terrible specs, not nearly competitive pricing.

I'm woefully out of the loop with tablets. My preconceived notion is that Apple's is the only solid tablet but it's so closed it's basically useless for anything except browsing.

I'd consider a tablet that lets me stick USB devices and network cables into it and have a slew of free, preferably open source software available. Windows would be a huge bonus. Did I just describe Microsoft's upcoming tablet?

The iPad is actually surprisingly high spec and delivers possibly the best money / performance ratio from any tablet out there.

The Nexus 7 is very high quality for the price. It's by far the best Android tablet, with its only true disappointment being 7" screen (which could be considered a plus due to form factor). Google has a proven track record with their Nexus devices, and my guess would be a broader range of devices in the near future.

Fact. The GPU in it beats anything that you can find in other tablets and the screen can't be touched either.

Is this not ONLY for the Galaxy Tab 1 (10.1)??? They have a whole bunch of other versions out, 7", Galaxy Tab 2 7"/10.1" etc...

From what I can read, those numbers are only including the Galaxy Tab 1 10.1" that was hit by Apple's "Patent Lawsuit" and banned from sales....

Nothing concrete yet, but considering the 10" arena is essentially the "sweet spot" for tablets, I would imagine Google teaming up with Asus sometime again the future for that size.

I think just giving its current tablet (nxs 7) an increase in screen size would be a good move for them even if its the same spec.

Speaking of tablets, I've rooted my Kindle Fire and am currently running Jelly Bean. So much better than Amazon's crap custom android interface. Fast as hell.

PS: I think I have to disagree that 10" is the sweet spot for tablets. A lot of my reading is done sitting around with a cup of coffee in one hand and the Kindle Fire in the other. You can't do that with a 10 incher. You also can't easily thumb type like you can with a 7", and 10" tablets are just not as comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. I think both sizes need to be available to suit different uses.

True, I do find the screen size of the Nexus to be more than adequate. The iPad 3 has an absolutely beautiful screen, but I would imagine in the near future Tablets will start to mimic Apple's resolution and the line between the devices will be blurred.

They could, but after seeing Apples Retina Display, 1280 x 800 is simply too dated of a resolution to put on a 10" device. The difference between the iPad 2 and 3's display is staggering.

That is true, but keep in mind that the iPad 2 wasn't 1280x800 to begin with.

Last quarter? Wouldn't that be during the period of time Samsung was forced to remove their product from sale in the USA pending the out come of a court case?

Android tablets will be able to compete properly when there's a tablet with the same quality as the Nexus 7 in the 10" size range.

You mean like the Asus 10" ones that are based on the same (or better) innards but have a lot more features?

As good as they are, the iPad is still a cut above them.

I think that the Nexus 7 is the first properly polished android tablet which can start to compete better against the iPad.
