Those do sound better than the 6 rotor in the op.
Thats because you only heard the 6 rotor at idle. It'll scream just like the 4 Rotor 787b once they open the taps under a load.

EACH ROTOR HAS 3 SIDES... THERE'S ONLY ONE CYLINDER " "THE EPITRICHOID" PER ROTOR AND ONE POWER STROKE PER ROTATION...
Don't shout - it's rude!

To clarify, each side of the rotor fires one every revolution, but there are three power 'strokes' per revolution.
the actual swept volume of a 13B is, IIRC 1308cc, but as it's not possible to directly compare it to either four or 2 stroke engines (or any other, comes to that), it's often compared to a 4 stroke piston engine of twice the swept area.

Last time I looked, our Motorsport Asociation had an equivalence factor of 1.7:1, with a 1 litre swept volume rotary being equvalent to a 1700cc 4 stroke engine.

Just to confuse things, the crank actually turns slower than the rotor.

Rotor tip wear was, indeed, a huge problem in the past and still can rear it's ugly head - the Ro80 effectively bankrupted Opel due to warranty claims for the engine.

My my, aren't we being pedantic.
He's not being as pedantic as you are being wrong.

This graphic might explain it a bit better:

But it isn't. It is a Rotary Engine.
My guess is he doesn't understand how rotary engines work.
Yes I know how wankel engines work

It is a straight six configuration, a rotary straight six. And we where talking about the sound it makes (if you have to try and compare it to a piston engine) is closest to a straight six, not a V8.

No, they pretty much sound like their own thing, not like any piston engine out there.

And its not a "straight six" at all. Other than burning fuel it really doesn't have anything in common with a normal piston engine.

Yeah I already knew how it looked like inside, it is roughly a triangle shape, and each side is it's own combustion chamber bssically. Obviously they are not cylinders as in a cylinder shaped object with a volume to them, but anyone who isn't pedantic would know exactly what I was talking about unless they completely didn't understand a rotary engine and thought it had actual cylinders.

THERE'S ONLY ONE COMBUSTION CHAMBER,EACH FACE HAS ITS OWN POWER STROKE,ITS OWN EXHAUST AND ITS OWN INDUCTION AND COMPRESSION PER ROTATION.

But, while that's sweet, I prefer this one... had to turn the volume DOWN twice!

And a road legal one you can buy http://www.sharpandtappin.com/tag/merlin-bentley/

heck, seems to be a fairly common practice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIZ_LeaTCDw

What part of "if you have to try and compare it to a piston engine" regarding sound didn't you get?

And while their isn't a straight six rotary terminology. It's 6 combustion chambers stacked inline, so I'm not incorrect, it's just that wankels are never referred to in terms of their configuration as it's always the same, only the amount of rotors is mentioned.

That's INEFFICIENT!

That 6 rotary engine sounds feasty.. fiesty.. whatever haha. It sounds like all it wants to do is rev at high speed. I am curious about its performance.
