Ya know, I wonder if he hacked chase a couple weeks back, or sold the data, or something. The chase Visa that I never use was used to buy Dish TV in Mexico as well as some prepaid cards from a Mexican prepaid phone vendor. Chase caught it instantly since it went from dormant card to Mexican shopping spree.

Who is more of a scumbag? This guy who has 50gigs worth of data, but released so little evidence and hopefully no more, or the f*cking people in charge of the data servers that hold names, addresses, phone numbers, and credit card numbers that are not encrypted? Effin plain txt! People with intent and peope whom are bored make these kinds of attacks because they pull data that has value. It is almost like there needs to be a law that forces companies to encrypt or even hash+salt all numbers, addresses, names, credit card numbers etc.

If this type of data was locked, it wouldn't matter so much if they did get it because they couldn't do anything with it. But with this stuff being plain txt, it is like asking to be attacked.
It pisses me off when companies don't properly secure important data, or use dated and insufficent methods that are easily hacked.

His readme.txt says that this is about "security" so maybe he only pushed so little of it just to get in some articles. Hopefully a "look what I can do and did, fix your sh/t you stupid f*ckers for posting this information in plaintxt."

God this makes me mad. I could care less about the hacker, Im pissed off at these banks. I hope he publishes the name of those 79 banks. Raise some hell if mine is on there.

That is only 195KB of the 50gigs worth of data that was captured.

If all the data were to be in the same format as that .txt, and 195KB holds the data of 1700 people in that .rar download, 50gigs could hold the data of over 457 million people/accounts! Include the credit card numbers, maybe 456 million.

The advantages of a POBox and a Google number. :-)

Well, that information was still released at some point, just maybe he is trying to take some credit for it. Does that 50gigs still sit behind the other guy on that Palistinian hacker site or is all that 50gigs fake?

As far as publishing the addresses, numbers and email, email is really the only big one. Addresses and phone numbers can be found in the address book, your license plate, ect. Where I live is public because of my marriage, so is everyone elses address who gets married.
