You can get about 1300BHP out of a Supra engine, so it's probably something in that ballpark.

Obviously it wouldn't be the most reliable thing in the world, but hey...

The 2JZ is ridiculously over engineered. The stock shortblock can take around 650HP.
Upgrade the engine, and you can get it to produce what you want (if you've got the cash).
There are some running 2500HP in dragsters. Here in Denmark, we've got a street driven Supra with 1300whp on pump gas, 1800whp on race fuel.
They are completely mental.

But the car itself, is big, ugly and fat :P

In other words, that whole block needs to be redone after, lets say a 1/4 mile ?

The most I've seen in a 2JZ is 1800hp, I've been in one that could cruise 192mph @ only 500hp.

This is the same video I posted back a while ago.

Better version of the video here: http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...pra&highlight=

Basically, its a built supra motor, big turbo and a anti-lag system that either injects fuel directly into the exhaust manifold, or compensates the tune for it. All that extra fuel in the exhaust manifold spools the turbo up FAST and keeps it there. Which is why this supra launches like that.

Depends on the state of tune, there are people with 900+hp using the cars as daily drivers with the short block being untouched and some, I believe haven't even had their heads lifted...

Some of the Japanese engines are damned well overengineered and some of the guys are really taking advantage of that. Not mu sort of thing, but I sure respect what they're doing.

There's not much room on a 2JZ to do direct injection into the exhaust manifold.
They just retard the ignition to stupid levels, so the fuel mixture will be ignited in the manifold.

And Dutchforce, I think the only thing that would be a normal replacement item, on a well built 2JZ, if it was running anti-lag like the one in the video. Would be the turbo itself. Not even ballbearing turbos are happy with that amount of abuse :P

Don't even need to go to that - just use an ignition rev limiter - the fuel's still getting pumped through the engine but being ignited in the exhaust manifold by the cylinders that had been firing.

That's exactly the same. You retard the ignition, so they fire the spark so late in the combustion cycle, that the fuel has already been pushed out into the manifold.
