Yeah I guess, kind of like the thought though! [thumbup]...early days in the relationship and plus my GF is pretty young, but maybe one day I'll tie the knot!

Out of interest, are salaries roughly the same for jobs in the states as the UK?

A couple of examples from here...and before anyone thinks I am under-selling them yes, there are exceptions in all industries.

Graphic designer: £20,000-30,000 ($32,200-48,300)
Web Developer: £25,000-£40,000 ($40,250-$64,400)
Account Manager: £25,000-£40,000 ($40,250-$64,400)
Digital Project Manager: £30,000-£60,000 ($48,300-$96,600)
Sales Director: £50,000-£60,000 ($80,500-$96,600)
Client Services Director: £60,000-£100,000 ($96,600-$161,000)

You're either lying through your teeth or you're company won't be around for very long.
How about "your"?
Nice to see you make the occasional typo as well

The worst thing about it is I remember thinking I had it wrong the first time and "correcting" it.

You earn more than 100K USD? WTF do you do?
Here is one example of what to do to earn more than 100K USD. Take my wife for example. She earned just a hair over 200K this year. She sells phone systems, network gear, servers etc etc and all that type of stuff to big and small business. 100% commision based. Last year she was around 180K.

Wife and I bought a house on a 26k income lol. This was back in 2005 when "predatory" lending was at its highest.

Enough so that my family and I were able to live well again, for another year. Would I like more? Sure! Do I need more? Not really. I'm more pleased with the free health, dental, vision, and company paid 401K than anything really. That in and of it'self is more valuable than anything to me.

I did. Well, not loaded, but well off.

She made around £40K last year, she's a sales manager/kitchen/bathroom designer, i made only around 20K, mainly because my time is split between looking after my little girl, helping out my elderly parents, a bit PC building/upgrading and a few nice peaceful nightshifts at a supported home for adults with learning disabilities, we're comfortable though since in our area the cost of living is quite low anyway.

Buy a cheap one? You should feel lucky, your income is higher then my gf and I's income combined and I work about 96 hours a fortnight, my gf works about 60. I'm still trying to figure out how I can even move out of my grandmothers place. I've yet to even contemplate about buying a house.

As for last years total, I have no idea, probably around $15+k.

As for this year with new job, probably around $30+k.

As for next year if I can land a better job, I'm hoping to hit $50k.

Aren't you in banking? Is now really a good time to be boasting about a big wage in that field?

I saw soemthing on TV this week that pretty much compared UK and Aus salaries and the point was in Aus you'd get an extra 20-40% extra (kind of) for doing the same jobs. A vet would get 50k instead of 35k and a nurse 40k instead of 28k for example.

Do you save much for an early retirement or does it all go on hookers, coke and gambling?
