I used to have a dog like that, and strangely not a sheepdog breed and he wasn't not trained to do so. Just completely obsessed with it. If he didn't have a ball he'd find an acorn or anything small and round and with a flick of his neck toss it at you, or into your lap if you where sitting.

He'd chase it until he dropped, running wider and wider semi-circles back to you as he tried to recover.

Whenever someone came to the house he would straight away look for something to play "fetch" with and annoy them until they left, or we told him not to.

Some dogs just have a problem [rofl]
