Im going to look at it tomorrow. Should have looked at it today but I didn't. ![]() Only thing that I worried about is the miles. Is that a lot for a Subaru engine? I like the single owner, newer model, AWD, Turbo, and KBB price is inline. Looks to be in excellent condition. If I like it, I think that I am just going to say f* it and buy it. Just the miles is what kills me. Though a lot of the solid brands seem like they are crazy high miles. Looked at some Acura's and for the price they have a sh/tload of miles on them. ![]() |

Thanks for spending my tax dollars on it and abusing the welfare system. I want faster internet as well. I only have the 3rd tier package. You do know that you can just give the IRS money right? I think it might be a donation so you can deduct it on next years tax return? |

175K miles is barely broken in for a subaru, shouldn't be a problem, you'll want to make sure the timing belt is changed if the lot hasn't done that.
Since it's an auto, take it in the lot, cut the wheel as hard as you can and drive it in a slow, sharp circle. If it shudders and bucks around then don't buy it unless you don't mind replacing the fairly cheap/easy to find transmission. Or are willing to take the chance that you can fix it with a flush and an additive. Manual's are more fun and problem free. Just saying. |

Sweet, I was hoping you would pop your head in.
Well, I will check it out tomorrow, and hopefully purchase it. Manual will be more fun yes, but this is the only XT in the area. Plus the wife prefers the auto. 0 to 60 still isn't too terrible. 6.7s. I figure if I got this I would get a tuner, cai, and a new upper/low and call it goods. |

175k miles is a monster risk. I would not spend 9k on that! You should have no problems buying a newer vehicle with less than 100k for less than 10k. Ordinarily I think they are a pretty solid car though. |

I would expect most of the US miles to be run up from longer drives on freeways with little sitting, cold, in traffic - the latter can wear cars out 4 or more times faster.
Looked after, it's not unusual for japanese cars to run to 300k miles or more with just basic servicing by the book - I know of cases which have run up 800k without even having the head lifted. |

That's near 300.000K for a 4 cylinder gasoline car with automatic gears. In Europe that milage is high for manual diesels already.
The price is way too high, if I'd bid on that I'd say 4 ~ 4.5 grand max. Perhaps you can drive it perfectly fine for another 100.000KM or when it goes not as well, you'd be facing all kinds of repairs as new owner. Don't forget shockabsorbers, brake callipers and more things that also wear due to high milage. It's more than just an engine and gearbox. |

Well, made an offer of $6,500. See if they take it.
KBB Value range is $6k to $8k for private party so the pricing is inline for a dealer sell. Subaru's hold their value extremely well, too well for used buyers, but great for new buyers. Put an offer in for another one at $7k. Has 120,000 miles on it. |

175k miles !? for 9k dollars. I would expect to pay no more than that for one with 75k miles max. Holy shitttt And no don't get an automatic. Why bother with a forester XT if you are going to get an auto... There really isn't much going for them apart from the engine. So you would want a manual. I mean the interiors are cheap and taccy as hell and they don't exactly look great. Only reason for getting one it cos of the engine and handling, but if your getting a auto, tbh don't even bother. Get something else. |
