It's you that doesnt understand. You have shown zero proof that you can use it the way you did. Show me any reputable source that gives an example of using a semicolon in the way you did. You can't, because there are none. |

In all of the examples you gave the two parts work as separate entities; this is not the case with the sentence we are discussing. Shouldn't the semicolon and the comma in your first sentence be reversed? |
