It's not a made up story. It's real life, hence reality. It's not like those shows you listed, but it is reality TV.
That would make practically every programme on TV that isn't a drama "reality TV". Reality TV is a specific genre.

Reality TV is usually more a long the lines of just go with it with no retakes or scripts, for the most part.
You'd be shocked.

I was trying to say, in my opinion, that mythbusters if you want to call it a reality tv show, compared to reality tv shows, isn't too close.

I'm not that oblivious to know that most reality tv shows do script things and plan things.

Using the logic in this thread, any show that does not have an Actor by profession in the show is a Reality TV program.

Except mythbusters has a script, and they plan what they are going to do for the show, and re-take scenes.

Reality TV is usually more a long the lines of just go with it with no retakes or scripts, for the most part.
You don't actually believe that reality tv doesn't use scripts or retakes, do you?

Not sure why I'm bothering to argue with you and take the time to look this up, but here you go:

IMDB lists it in the Reality TV genre:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383126/

This site lists it as reality TV:
http://reality-tv.findthebest.com/l/90/MythBusters

This realitytvworld website is talking about it so I can only assume it's reality TV:

We posted a reply at the same time so I suppose you didn't see my reply to that. I just don't understand the reasoning behind labeling a tv show a reality tv show if the personalities/presenters are not an Actor by trade.

I guess it's because when I think of Reality TV shows, I think of those stupid ass jersey shore type shows or that kate and whatever kids, something more a long the lines of people's personal lifes.

I guess overall the term Reality TV show is very broad and can be every single show that does not have an Actor by profession in it.

Yeah, didn't see your reply. But you are right with your last sentence lol. Reality shows are popular. The term is broad intentionally I would suspect.

Mythbusters was at its best when it was only Adam & Jamie. The new "additions" don't add anything at all but bad jokes, scripted **** and a woman throwing her hair around thinking she's all that.

Think it's the last time they're allowed on that bomb range too...I've actually thought about how close it is to housing before.
