I can give you the drugs, though I consider a bit of experimentation to be a rite of passage for young people, but gambling? Can it be any more obvious you have no personal experience in the matter? As long as one sets their limits then it can be a very entertaining way to spend a weekend. It doesn't even have to be expensive if you make sure not to bet too large and even if you lose you'll get back half of your money in free drinks. All in all it is a great way to entertain yourself for a few hours once in a while especially if you're with a group of friends.
Also, playing cards with friends is gambling and fun.

Just for the record, I'm not going to trust some random stranger on the internet more than the 18 years of conventional wisdom I have acquired through my schooling. Sorry if that makes me naive.

They're not necessarily 'pathetic vices', HC.

Many great cultural achievements have been chemically influenced. I wouldn't be surprised if a number of technological and scientific achievements might also have involved people partaking in certain pharmaceuticals.

How' this for a night out:
1. snort some cocaine, get high as a kite
2. lose a month's salary gambling wildly at the casino
3. get blind smashed drunk
4. throw up all over the chick you're with
5. collapse in gutter
6. wake up in the clink with a hangover & a mouth that tastes like a dog slept in it

Good fun?

That's fine, but don't assume that anyone else who has touched them is 'pathetic' etc.

Kids. Unless it comes with a spoonful of sugar.
