When I saw Louis Oosthuizen's deuce on 2, I thought I'd never seen a finer shot. That is, until hole number 74. With it all on the line, Bubba stuck a wedge from the woods.
My argument is this. Louis' shot on 2 was great, don't get me wrong. I mean, there aren't many who can stripe a 4 iron 253 yards with perfect accuracy. But it was a perfect lie, downhill, and downwind and the natural slope of the green was such that he didn't have to carry it over the bunker on the right. He just needed it to get to the front of the green and get it rolling. The slope of the green did the rest. But Bubba's shot. was on the second playoff hole, hitting from pine needles, he could not see the green. It was a complete skill shot. I guess the only thing lucky about it was that he was left handed. A righty trying to make that angle would have been really umpossible. |
