Default Driver °
I have a 10.5° which I am finding to get the ball a little too high.

I hit my buddy's 8.5° Callaway FT-3 last week and absolutely crushed it and loved how it sounded. Plus, it looked like it was shaped like a boxing glove, which I found pretty cool.

Has anyone hit this club before?

I have not hit the Calloway FT-3 yet, but have hit 8.5° drivers before. Be wary of the low degree of loft. You do lose control, and miss hits are accentuated. One way you can get the ball lower without changing your stance or swing is going with a stiffer shaft.

If you are happy with the control at 8.5, That's awesome. I love hitting low screaming drives, much easier to manage on windy days.

I haven't, but 10.5 is too high for my tastes. 8.5-9.5 is better. Of course, that isn't the case for everyone.

I have an FT-3, I love it. Mine is a 9 degrees. But like SUNT said lower degree drivers are not for everyone, but I tend to hit my drivers kinda high also.

I don't think the make the FT-3 any longer, mine is like 6 years old. I think the current models are RAZR HAWK, FT-IZ and DIABLO. But I am sure one is somewhat similiar to the FT-3.

You could probably find one for fairly cheap online for discontinued models.

A more casual player should definitely stick with a driver with a greater loft. The less loft, the harder to hit and control. 10.5 should generally be optimal for a weekend warrior or anyone with a handicap over 15.

I hit mine fine, but I really need to look for a lower loft for next season. I think they are up to the FT-9 or something. We are getting a Dicks soon, so I will have to go look at what they have when I get a chance...or go to Annapolis and check out what is cheap on the sale rack.

I'd maybe check out to see what you like at Dick's or wherever, but you can find them so much cheaper online.

I can't hit 10.5 drivers. I've tried them all. The ball balloons on me and then drops straight down with no roll. I can't figure it out. I hit my 9.5 30 yards farther on the average.

mine does too, which is part of why I want to change. I am perfectly fine with buying an older model.

You can get a fairly new Taylor Made Burner pretty cheap. Even the brand new models are priced pretty good.

I have a fairly new Burner now. I don't mind it, but I also like to be different so I may look at something else.
