Got to go out an play a few holes with my son late yesterday. Made a move on the second tee clearing my hips and the hit the ball 250 in the air, which is about 20-30 yards farther than my norm. I was able to repeat it for the rest of the shots and I was hitting all my clubs straighter and longer. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.
I know this is what I am supposed to do, but I could never repeat it shot after shot. I end up doing it right a few times during a round, but mostly I end up a little over the top and pull a soft fade, which is the shot I mainly rely on. Now I need to get to a range and build it into my swing while I got the feeling.

Do you honestly think you'll still have the "feel" tomorrow, are you forgetting this is GOLF you're talking about?

Probably the most bizarre round I have ever played in my life.

I had 9 pars and shot fucking 90!! When I make 9 pars I am usually challenging 80. 18 over on the other 9 holes. My short game was ridiculous. I was shanking and chunking chips and making double bogeys from around the green. I made two triples with balls in the water on short shots. On one par 5, I layed up to 130 yards so I wouldn't have to hit one of my wedges and hit my 9-iron to four feet. Of course, missed the birdie putt.

Fortunately, my partner and I ham-and-egged it pretty well and we both went south on only one hole. I'm pretty sure we will qualify for the match play. Gotta get to the short game range this weekend.
Took some time to work on my short game in the last week and had a decent round as a result yesterday. Made 7 pars and shot 84. Still had two doubles but it wasn't because of the short game. If I could have made a few putts it would have been a lot better; generally got up and down pretty well but still missed three birdies inside 6 feet.

132 yard par 3 on Sunday. All four of us birdied. I almost had a hole-in-one.
14 birdies in the group (pro had 3).

Played late yesterday (light out till around 8:30 now) and hit the ball great. I should have broken 80 but I made NOTHING with the putter. Very frustrating, as I hit 6-7 putts right in the thoat but were a click short. I must be decelerating or something.

Well ain't that nice. My course is flooded and I'm pretty sure I paid a full season membership for nine holes. The only other course in town is also flooded.

The course at 6 AM this morning.

This is what over 2 inches of rain does to our course. I'm really getting tired of it.

So I decide to play late yesterday, even though it's around 97 degrees when I get to the club. Too hot to waste the energy warming up at the range, so I go out cold. 6 over par on the first 4 holes, and then it kicks in. 4 over on the last 14 holes for an 82.

I got something going right now. I know if I warmed up I would have gone really low. It's all in keeping the arms and quick twitch muscles out of it and just using my body in one piece, and making sure I clear my hips to allow room for the club to come from the inside. Handicap has gone from 14 to 11 (index 9.3) in the last four rounds. Playing again tomorrow and I will be sure to get there early to warm up. Goal this season is now getting to single digits and staying there longer than a week. I was a 9 for a week two years ago.

It's amazing how much snow melted today. I doubt we can play tomorrow but I'd say that Sunday looks very good, it is supposed to be in the fifties.
