Default It just doesn't matter
that my score sucked

It doesn't matter that my drive on the 329 yd par 4 was yanked left

It doesn't matter that I got a lucky bounce

All that matters is that my drive went past the green and I parred the hole.

Gotta look for reasons to keep going back.

Went back this morning and the suckiness continued, but after missing the green on a par three by about twenty yards, I effed up a chip that just happened to go in the hole for a birdie

That's enough to get me to go and try again tomorrow.

Sounds exactly like me. Cant hit a drive straight to save my life. I have made 5 birdies in my career (havent been playing golf very long, maybe 1-2 years). Only one has come on a putt, all the rest have come from chips from off the green. My scores are bad, but I still love to go out and play golf.

I found something.

An old swing trainer that I must have won in a golf tournament sometime. I went out and swung it a while yesterday and I think it might help me with a few things.

It looks like this.

I laughed at it when I won it and I've tried to sell it a few times. It seems to be helping me figure out where my swing has went wrong.

No chance of a lesson what with the golf course tore up from the storm and the pro all busy with that.

I hit a few good shots yesterday. 7 iron on a par 3, 154 yards, stopped 3-4 feet short dead in line with the hole and I birdied.
I cussed it when I hit it because it didn't feel good, my buddies told me to shut the fuck up. Thing is I didn't hit it pure and got somewhat lucky, I should have hit 8 iron.

Yeah I know those things, I always thought they were for loosening up more than training. For me it at least told me my grip was right. I had moved the club up the fingers because I had read that you grip it in the first knuckle a bunch of times. But after nearly a year when it just didn't feel right I moved it back down a few weeks ago and I'm hitting it much better lately.

If felt good yesterday morning swinging it in the yard but it sure didn't translate to the golf course.

I hit one nice draw with my driver all day. One wild hook. One straight ball. The rest went right.

3 wood ok. Irons ok. Still just a little shorter than normal.

I'm convinced that the best way to take stokes off of your game is to improve and practice putting, 3 and 4 putts kills your score. Best putting (9 holes) was 14 putts. A good short game helps and should be the mosted practiced while at the driving range. Leave that driver in the bag.

It cost nothing to practice putting, most golf public courses have them, while a bucket of balls is what about $7 - $10 and usually played off a mat, not grass. I use a putting aid and it has helped my game immensely.

I've noticed that if you make a good swing and hit it a little thin with irons, it will still end up about where you want it (just on a different trajectory). If you make a bad swing and do the same, the ball will end up a lot worse.
