I've been playing golf for about 25 years, and never thought twice about purchasing tees.
Now I've got one of those fat boy drivers with a face that is as deep as the standard T length. I found myself struggling trying to deep up a ball on the box high enough to take advantage of the club, but deep enough so it wouldn't fall over...not easy. Guess I need to buy some longer ones. You guys? Game just gets more complicated... |

That would probably take care of it. I need to have regular length tees barely in the ground for my driver. The longer tees work well. It requires some modifications in the setup, but when it's right, it's right. Almost like cheating. |

I got this one last year. I like it. Have you seen those square-headed drivers? Callaways? A couple of guys I know are playing them, seem pretty popular. |

As for the tees, the standard length has always been 2 1/8".
Many players only use those for clubs other than the new drivers off the tee. In simple terms, coupled with the right ball, today's deep faced drivers are designed to strike the ball with an ascending blow to get maximum distance. That's the reason for the taller tees. For a 460cc driver, which is the legal maximum size, you want the ball teed high with approximately half the ball above the grounded driver head. Some people like it a little lower, but there are many people who like it even higher. Regardless, a standard tee won't do the job. It's time to buy some 3" or even 3 1/2" tees, and let it fly! |

I could never hit a ball on a high tee, I swing right under it and pop everything up. I use standard tees and put it so that the top of the driver comes up to the middle spot of the ball. I know that's a little low but my driver has a low flex point (or however you say it) that gets the ball up quickly and my drives are about the right height.
