Got in 9 holes before dark today and I couldn't believe how good I hit it. The first ball I hit went right out of bounds on #10. Then I didn't miss another fairway or green until 17, where I hit a lazy wedge into a greenside bunker. Bogied the last two holes for a 40. I have no idea where that came from, with no practice and little play so far to speak of.

Default I'll Be Damned, I Played Golf
With an old golf buddy for the first time in years today. It was 70 and an awesome day. And I came away with a good story. We were playing 2/2/2 ($2 for the front, $2 for the back etc) and I held a 2 shot lead on #9. Hit my wedge approach right at the stick, then watched in amazement as it suddenly starts screaming left off the green and into the lake. I apparently hit the stick right down near the hole. Simply amazing, the only time I've ever seen that happen was on tv. A kick in birdie turned into a double and when my buddy made par a win turned into a tie.

Bummer. I've only hit the stick on the fly once and that was lucky because my ball was going to sail over the green.

Me too. My swing has changed dramatically in the last couple months. Probably for the better. Have to keep my arms away from my body and can't swing as hard. Should make for an interesting start to the golf season.

Same here.

I've never even had a hole-in-one either.

I was kind of shocked that I actually played pretty well on a very difficult course as it was only the 3rd time since December that I got out. And the first 2 were butt ugly rounds.

I shot 80 AGAIN.

38-42

Saturday it was 39-41.

I went on a double bogey streak on the back 9 Sunday, also had a 3 putt.

I made a 4 foot putt for bird on the 8th hole Sunday, and then on the back 9 on 17 I missed a 5 footer for birdie and a 3 footer on 18 for birdie that would have got me into the 70's. Both excellent wedge shots and then didn't finish it off.

Interesting day. I had made times for everyone at 9 and 9:08 for the weekend. Saturday everyone bitched and said it was too late. I said fine, you crybabies make a time and I'll be here. One guy says well we need to play at 8 tomorrow because the time is changing. I just grinned and said fine when he went to make the new times. So I left the house in the dark.

Got to the course and the guy had already got his ass chewed by 3 guys over the phone because they thought we were playing at 9 and weren't there yet, and one guy got a speeding ticket thinking he was late and was really an hour early. Then no one wants to keep score so I keep score. Skins, greenies, team game, extra skins game between me and the daylight savings time challenged guy, I keep it all.

I had a game with this same guy in addition to the normal skins and greeenies and he was also my opponent in a team game. Beat him both days in all matches.

After we play and divide up the money someone says Who had the low score? There were 9 of us. Someone else says Fish does, that's why he has all the money. He shot 80.

This guy says let me see the card. I go to take a leak. I get back and everyone's looking at me. I said what's the deal? I get told that Mr. Daylight Savings says I messed up the score, I didn't shoot 80, and he got screwed on the skins game. He says I shot 39 on the front. I told him that 2 over is 38. He comes to my end of the table and stands over me and says Well let's add it up. I'll show you. I say fine.
4 par
5 bogey
5 bogey
3 (sand save I might add)
5 par
5 bogey
3 par
3 birdie
5 par

He adds it up going to show me how I'm wrong and it comes up to 38. I told him to study up on addition and time changes.

I'll add that these continual 80 scores have me considering playing today too. I have a burning desire to shoot in the 70's.

I was going to stick around the house today and do some stuff, I may do stuff until around 11 and then play with the 12 o'clock group.

Oh sure, go ahead and rub it in, nice to know courses are open in your neck of the woods (while I have to wait several more weeks to golf), and that you get to go golfing on a Monday afternoon while the rest of us slave away.

May you shoot a 90 today....yes, I'm the vindictive type.

I haven't made up my mind yet. It's going to be a little chilly when they tee off at noon today, probably around 55 degrees with little wind.

We fought 20 mph winds all weekend.

82, so your hex partly worked since I didn't shoot in the 70's. A jackass started his cart right on top of me during my approach on 11 and I flinched and promptly rolled the ball out of bounds and took a 7.

Plus after a terrific up and down on the first hole I couldn't get up and down from anywhere.

Dammit. I was going to do some stuff around the house today but a buddy just called and said he's leaving work early. Tee off at 11.

I hate this, I really needed a break.

Played on Sunday in surprisingly mild weather in the Philly area. I kind of expected my course to be soaking wet since it was closed on Saturday due to the snow melt, but it was very dry. Greens need to be trimmed a little and I three putted four times while shooting 84. We played 'paradise' rules and moved it everywhere so its not legit, but I hit the ball very well, considering it was my first 18 since mid-December. I had to hit an extra club everywhere except with my wedges. They were in good form.

I wish the range was open. I want to hit balls this afternoon.
