Default New Driver
I can't wait to get my hands on it. TaylorMade R7 CGB MAX.

I bought it on ebay and funny enough the seller is only 15 miles from my house, in the same town where I play golf. He seems to have several golf items for sale regularly.

I know a guy who just gave $250 for one of these, I got this one for $180.

I play with a guy hits one of those. It makes a horrible, high pitched, pingy sound when you hit it. But, it ain't about sound, and he launches the ball with the thing.

Hopefully the guy calls me today and I can pick it up on the way home and hear that ping.
Damn, I need to sell some drivers. I'm running out of storage space.

Doesn't look like I've got a new driver after all. The seller didn't call and didn't answer my email, now he's removed his account and canceled all his auctions.

I have to wonder if it was someone at the golf course and they were afraid they'd get fired.

I don't seem to have much luck with ebay anymore.

Finally got an email from the guy after I emailed him for the 2nd time.

Dear Sir: I cancelled the ad because I was unsure of the original vendor.

Thank you.

------------------
So he was selling counterfeits and I would have been a little too close to home for him to be comfortable. That's how I read it.

I don't know why I ever screw with ebay, I should delete it from my bookmarks. I just went to taylor made and got a floor model, never been hit, for $100 more and I know it's not a fake.

Taylormade preowned is a quality organization. I got my club today, it's not just like new it is new. They included a magnetic closure headcover ($30 at least), wrench, all the good shit and also a Taylor made R7 cap that I would have had to pay $20 for if I'd have bought it.
Damn good looking cap too.

I resisted the urge to slap a few balls out into the cornfield, but only because the wind is blowing a gale. I'll get there early and adjust it on the range tomorrow.

My buddy is committed to making me a big head this winter for my 50th B-day.

It's a steel headed driver, surprisingly.

He gets the components from here:

460cc is the limit by the rules.

Why don't you just send me $80 and I'll send you my Callaway X460 with regular graphite shaft.

Tempting, but the price is better at his place. Plus the male bonding, and all that.

One time, working in his shop, we found a very old hand-made pipe from his college days that still had some bounty.

We had more fun cackling about the find than anything after.

Dammit.
Driver's not generally my problem anyway.

Chipping killed my scores last year. During the league championship, I skipped two in a row across the green, then made a 20-foot downhiller for a 7.

Shot an 82, one over for my handicap, but felt like a hackmore with the guys I was playing with. Embarassing.

Driver's not my problem either, I get invited to play on scramble teams because of my driver.

Still yet, everyone wants just a little bit more.

I know someone will buy my taylormade R7 460 that I use now if I decide to let it go because it has a stiff shaft. I might keep it around for a back up since the weights in it will fit my new driver and allow me to tinker around some. Guys who I play with that I can outdrive their drivers with my 4 iron think they need a stiff shaft. According to all the sites I'm right on the edge between stiff and regular. I was going to get regular this time but the mint one they had available in the loft I wanted (9.5) had a stiff shaft so I got stiff.

I'm using regular in my irons and 3 wood, stiff in my 7 wood. Stiff in my 3 iron hybrid. No pattern I know, but the hybrid, 7 wood, and 3 wood I've had for awhile.

I've got a backlog of drivers and putters. I'll keep most of the putters. I'm not going to give my son any more golf equipment because he doesn't play more than 4 times a year. I gave him my old R7 425 quad. At 6'3 and 32 years old he probably generates as much clubhead speed while he's falling down backwards (which he does on almost every swing) as I do.

With the new baby I don't see him playing much golf now for sure. Only the freebie company scrambles that I threaten him to get in to.

Most of us can't play any length with a stiff shaft for the driver. I wouldn't want one.

I'm a little surprised a mature fellow like yourself can create the clubhead speed to take advantage of a stiff shaft.
