There is no doubt in my mind that this is the number I shoot most often, by far. Funny how that works. I hit a shot out of a greenside bunker to 3 feet. Missed that and then missed the 6 footer I had left myself. Hell I had a birdie on the front and still shot 43. |

I took care of that Sunday. 87. The course was not player friendly, more of a survival contest. I went out last weekend and had a pretty unusual experience. Waited until late to take advantage of discounted rates online. When I got there the first few holes were packed seeing as it was a holiday weekend so I talked the guy into letting me start on 10. Cruised through the back without seeing a sole, then was shocked to see the front packed at with only a few hours of daylight left. I sprinted in front of a group of 6 who was set to go out, then discovered a 4 some on the 2nd tee. After playing 1 I went to the 2nd tee and they were still in the fairway. Now I've got a 4 in front of me and a 2 behind me so I'm squeezed. I go back to the pro shop and tried to get a rain check for the back nine and he gives me a complete raincheck for the entire round. I told him he didn't have to do that, I played 10 holes, and he said "I want you to come back". I thought that was pretty cool. |

Turned a 3 footer into a 6 footer? Ouch. |

I'm happy for you Ima but I'm a bit bummed that you won't be around, you are a great poster. Hey Ima, although i've not been on the board all that long IMO you're a really cool poster. (And thanks for the tip that 'politics' is a taboo subject here). ![]() The way *you* handled that incident- versus unnamed others- was admirable. Good luck in your future endeavors. |

I paid my dues at the end of October. They're not due until March so I got a big discount. |

Oh trust me I can see the advantages, especially if you just want to go out and catch 6 holes before dark. But I like to play a lot of different courses and I'm just not playing as much these days so I'd never cash in. Between fundraising scrambles and rounds I buy at charity auctions I still end up playing most of the other courses around here every year. |

It has happened with most everything in my life, from a Big Mac to a trip to Florida. Over time things that used to be a huge deal for me, like bass fishing, are no longer a big deal. I've always wondered if it would happen with golf, my one true passion. And I'm sad to report that it has.
The first clue occurred a few years ago when I no longer had any desire to play in 45 degree rain. I used to laugh at those people, knowing that with appropriate clothing you can play in almost any weather. But now I am actually considering taking the winter off, something I've never done. Just no desire to dress up and play in the cold. Tried to play the other night, first cold round of the year, and I was miserable and left after 7 holes. ![]() |

I guess to get back on subject, passion in everything comes and goes for me. I put my tennis racquests away for the entire summer after getting my ass handed to me in a tournament. I picked up my golf clubs instead. Now that it is winter, I will be putting on my soccer shoes and playing indoor. I am not "passionate" about the game itself, but I love the competition. I think that is what I am more passionate about more than anything else, the idea of challenging myself and going out and doing my best.
I love tennis, golf, and I enjoy doing just about anything involving putting myself up against a challenge, but the passion towards each individually comes and goes. |
